Letting go is not about giving up. According to Mid Cities Psychiatry, learning how to let go of what you can’t control is a mental and emotional skill that, if mastered, will enhance your quality of life by reducing stress and creating space for healing in your mind and body.

Affirmations can gently push your thinking in a better direction, especially when you’re trying to let go of what you can’t control or intrusive thoughts. Saying a kind phrase to yourself slowly rewires those anxious loops.

For example, say aloud "I let go of what I cannot change" or “I am calm even when answers are missing" when you're feeling stressed or anxious. Scribble these affirmations in a notebook, or stick a note on the mirror, wall, or desk where you see it every day. This practice will strengthen the habit of surrender and develop self-trust.

Peg’s Foundation was born 25 years ago on April 6, 2001.

Rooted in a philanthropic legacy that began in the 1960s—and driven by a mother’s infinite love—Peg’s was built on a simple but powerful belief: mental health is essential to overall health, and recovery from mental illness should be the expectation, not the exception.

As we mark this milestone year, we’ll be celebrating the people and organizations who have brought our mission to life while continuing to Think Bigger about what’s possible to improve the lives of people living with serious mental illness.

And we’re just getting started.

The vision of World Bipolar Day is to bring awareness to bipolar disorders and to eliminate social stigma associated with this often misunderstood mental health condition. Through collaboration, the goal of WBD is to foster empathy, education, and provide support to those affected. The International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD) encourages global awareness on March 30th.

Bipolar disorders (formerly called manic-depressive illness) are a group of conditions that includes bipolar I, bipolar II, and cyclothymic disorder. While they share common aspects, their symptoms are distinct.

Bipolar disorder causes clear shifts in a person’s mood, energy, and behavior that departs significantly from the "usual" self. They experience periods of extreme “ups” and "downs" (known as manic episodes) or periods of hopeless (known as depressive episodes).
