CKD on Dialysis: Medication Safety Alert

If you are on dialysis, your kidneys cannot remove medications like before.
Taking the wrong medicine, supplement, or over-the-counter drug can be life-threatening.

Medications to AVOID unless approved by your nephrologist

1. Pain Relievers (NSAIDs)
• Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
• Naproxen (Aleve)
• Diclofenac
These can cause:
• Fluid retention
• High blood pressure
• Heart complications

2. Herbal & “Natural” Supplements
• May contain hidden potassium, phosphorus, or heavy metals
• Can interfere with dialysis medications

3. Vitamins (Regular Formulas)
Avoid unless renal-approved:
• Vitamin A
• Vitamin E
• Vitamin K
• Multivitamins with potassium or phosphorus

Dialysis patients should only take renal vitamins prescribed by their provider.

4. Cold & Allergy Medications
• Decongestants can raise blood pressure and heart rate
• Some contain ingredients unsafe for dialysis patients

Why This Matters

Dialysis does NOT remove all medications.
Some drugs build up between treatments and can cause:
• Irregular heartbeat
• Confusion or weakness
• Breathing problems
• Sudden hospitalization

Golden Rule for Dialysis Patients

If your nephrologist or dialysis team did NOT approve it — do NOT take it.

Always check before taking:
• OTC medicines
• Vitamins
• Herbal products
• Pain relievers
• New prescriptions from other doctors

Dialysis Safety Reminder

If you are on dialysis, even common medicines and vitamins can become dangerous.

Your body cannot clear medications normally.
Some products contain hidden potassium or phosphorus that can affect your heart.

Always check with your nephrologist or dialysis team before taking anything new.

Protect your heart.
Protect your treatment.
Protect your life.

🐜 Life Lessons from Ants: Small Creatures, Big Wisdom

Have you ever watched ants closely?

They may be tiny… but their way of life teaches us powerful lessons about family, teamwork, and resilience.

What Ants Teach Us About Life:

🐜 Teamwork Matters
No ant works alone. Together, they carry loads many times their size.
👉 We are stronger when we support each other.

🐜 Everyone Has a Role
Each ant contributes to the survival of the colony.
👉 Every person’s effort matters — including yours.

🐜 Care for One Another
Ants protect, feed, and help injured members.
👉 Kindness and compassion keep communities strong.

🐜 Never Give Up
When their path is blocked, ants don’t quit — they find another way.
👉 Obstacles are not the end. They are a new direction.

🐜 Prepare for the Future
Ants gather and store food for hard times.
👉 Wisdom means planning ahead.

❤️ Even the smallest creatures understand something many people forget…

We survive by helping each other.

Ants don’t compete.
They don’t complain.
They don’t quit.

They work together.
Care for each other.
And keep going — no matter what.

If tiny ants can build a strong community… imagine what we can do with love, kindness, and unity.

Let’s be like ants today:
✔ Help someone
✔ Encourage someone
✔ Lift someone up

🚨 Facebook Scam Warnings: Protect Yourself & Your Loved Ones

⚠️ Most Common Facebook Scams (2026)

1. Fake Account Requests
• A “friend” sends a new request saying their old account was hacked.
• They later ask for money or a verification code.

2. Too-Good-To-Be-True Giveaways
• “You won a car, iPhone, or cash!”
• They ask for a shipping fee or personal information.

3. Facebook Marketplace Fraud
• Buyer sends fake payment confirmation.
• Seller asks for deposit outside Facebook (Zelle, Cash App, gift cards).

4. Phishing Messages
• “Your account will be disabled — click here.”
• Leads to fake login pages that steal your password.

5. Romance or Emotional Scams
• Someone builds trust quickly.
• Then asks for emergency money or gift cards.

🛡️ How to Stay Safe

✔ Never send codes, money, or gift cards to anyone online
✔ Check profiles — new account, few photos, no history = red flag
✔ Don’t click suspicious links
✔ Enable Two-Factor Authentication
✔ Report & block suspicious accounts immediately

❤️ Special Reminder for Seniors & Caregivers

Many scammers target older adults. Please:
• Talk to your parents or grandparents about these scams
• Remind them: No legitimate organization asks for gift cards or Facebook payments

🚨 Facebook Friends, Please Be Careful!
Scammers are everywhere — pretending to be friends, offering fake prizes, or asking for money.

If it sounds urgent, emotional, or too good to be true… STOP and VERIFY.

Let’s protect our families, especially our seniors. Share this post to keep others safe! ❤️
