I am so deeply grateful and honored to be holding the Honoring Collective Grief in Ritual & Ceremony next Friday, October 18th at 7:30pm at Lotus Wellness Center.
In the last few months (and weeks), there has been so much devastation, deep sense of loss, and collective pain. It feels so relevant to lean into a deepening of holding space for grief in a collective experience through ritual and ceremony.
There are so many paths (some small, some large, and a lot of in-betweens) to grief and loss.
Our hope is to come together to honor and hold space for all of them - and all of the parts of you.
Grief & loss can be held for
~ losing someone/something we love (including an idealization)
~ losing loved ones who depart from this Earth
~ living grief - a relationship/friendship/situation that passed
~ loss of treasured skills capacity due to illness/injury/chronic disease
~ loss of relationships, life dreams, expectations
~ unconscious disappointment, loneliness, lack of belonging, feeling alone in the world, diminished experience of who we truly are, woundedness, soul grief
~ parts of us that we have pushed away, shamed, banished, held in contempt
~ sorrows of the world (collective loss...generational loss...ancestral loss)
~ sadness for Mother Earth and all that she is enduring
~ loss of connection to land, language, stories of the ancestors, rituals and ceremonies held in communities
Grief is not a diagnosis...it is not something to outrun or avoid...
It is something to lean into, holding one hand out for the sorrows it brings, and another hand to hold the beauty, love, and gratitude that it brought...
Grief does not live only in our mind. It flows into every inch of our body...it cradles our soul...at times, it challenges us with our descent journey or initiation... and when it does, we are never the same.
We cannot just talk it through... or wait it out... while some propose that time heals grief... the true healer is compassionate listening, gentleness, and meaningful living with grief and loss - intertwined.
For thousands of years and in so many places around the world, grief is held, cared for, honored, witnessed, and expressed collectively - in community...in sacred and compassionate witnessing...in allowing the tears, the uncontrollable emotions, and raw vulnerability to flow....
Let us remember together...
Let us tend our hearts and souls and hold a ritual and ceremony to our collective grief with:
~ singing / humming
~ poetic & creative expression
~ gentle movement
~ compassionate witnessing of one another
This circle will be kept small to allow for sacred witnessing and sharing
