The transition to parenthood can bring many emotions - joy, exhaustion, uncertainty, and sometimes unexpected mental health challenges.
Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are more common than many people realize. Research shows that about 1 in 5 women experience perinatal mental health challenges, and 1 in 10 fathers or partners may also experience symptoms during pregnancy or in the first year after a baby is born.
These experiences can include depression, anxiety, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed - and they are common, treatable, and nothing to feel ashamed of.
If you or someone you know is navigating postpartum mental health challenges, support is available and recovery is possible.
