Last weekend I had the privilege of participating in the LBAN/Latino Business Action Network Business Scaling Program at the with Cohort 20.
It was an incredible experience filled with powerful insights, connections, and inspiration from 70+ Latino founders and thought leaders across the country.
One moment that stood out deeply to me was a story shared by Professor Huggy Rao. He told of a woman CEO who broke down in tears when she realized she had been giving her family only her “scraps” after pouring herself into work. Professor Rao used this story to illustrate the importance of leaders “mowing their lawn”—cutting down the weeds of distractions and non-essentials so that time and energy can be reserved for what truly matters.
That lesson struck me as both profound and practical. As leaders, it’s easy to become consumed with endless tasks, but if we don’t intentionally clear space, our most important relationships and values suffer.
I am grateful to LBAN, Stanford GSB, and all the speakers, professors, and ecosystem partners who made this kickoff weekend so impactful. I’m excited to learn, grow, and apply these insights—not just in business, but in life.
