Our Executive Functioning Social group recently completed an amazing community service project to help pets in need! The children identified a need, organized a pet supply drive, created flyers and a marketing plan, and helped collect donations for Border Tails Rescue and Barb’s Precious Rescue. They even used monetary donations to shop for supplies, practicing budgeting, planning, teamwork, and problem-solving along the way. We are so proud of their leadership, compassion, and hard work! Thank you Clarissa Messina and for helping our kids execute such an amazing drive.

Many parents notice these signs but don’t realize they can be related to sensory processing, motor skills, or regulation challenges.

If your child struggles with things like handwriting, coordination, focus, or big emotions, occupational therapy can help them build the skills they need to succeed in everyday activities.

✨ Early support can make a big difference.

Our Saturday Board Games Group was SO much fun this weekend! 🎲✨
We brought board games to life by turning our hallway into a life-size board game and using ourselves as the pieces!

The kids also went on a game piece scavenger hunt, played giant Connect 4, and even created their own board games.

What looked like pure fun was also packed with so many meaningful therapy moments. In the life-size game, the kids practiced taking turns, following directions, waiting, flexible thinking, and managing big feelings when plans changed or the game didn’t go their way. All of the movement through the hallway also supported balance, coordination, body awareness, and motor planning.

During the scavenger hunt, they worked on visual scanning, attention, memory, problem solving, and teamwork as they searched for hidden pieces and helped one another.

Giant Connect 4 gave them opportunities to practice strategy, hand-eye coordination, reaching, visual skills, and social interaction with peers.

When they designed their own board games, the creativity really came to life! They used fine motor skills, planning, sequencing, writing, drawing, and expressive language as they came up with ideas, made rules, and shared their games with the group.

We love how groups like this help children build skills in a way that feels exciting, playful, and meaningful. The kids had an amazing time and were so proud of what they created! 💛

Did you know we offer telehealth services?

Telehealth therapy can be a wonderful option for the right child and family 💻

For some families, telehealth helps reduce stress by cutting out travel time, simplifying schedules, and allowing therapy to happen right at home. It can be especially helpful for children who engage well through a screen, families with busy routines, and parents who want support carrying skills over into everyday life.

Telehealth can be great for working on meaningful goals like:
✨ communication
✨ executive functioning
✨ emotional regulation
✨ literacy and school-related skills
✨ articulation

It’s not the best fit for every child, but for many families it can be a flexible and effective way to get support.

Reach out if you’d like to learn whether telehealth may be a good fit for your child 💛

📦✨ Saturday Social Group: OUT OF THE BOX! ✨📦

This weekend at Express Yourself Pediatric Therapy, we truly thought outside the box… and built an entire world from them!

🧱🏘️ We built a town out of boxes
The kids designed houses, roads, tunnels, and hideouts for their characters and animals.
➡️ This worked on:
• Social skills (planning together, sharing ideas, negotiating roles)
• Executive functioning (organizing, problem-solving, flexible thinking)
• Language skills (explaining ideas, storytelling, using descriptive words)
• Fine motor skills (cutting, taping, assembling)

🐹🏃‍♂️ Obstacle courses for small animals & characters
We engineered ramps, bridges, and mazes — then tested them!
➡️ This built:
• Creativity & critical thinking
• Cause and effect understanding
• Motor planning & coordination
• Teamwork and collaboration

👋🔍 “Feel & Find” – our homemade sensory version
Mystery items hidden inside boxes had to be identified using touch only!
➡️ This supported:
• Sensory processing & body awareness
• Descriptive language
• Self-regulation (tolerating uncertainty and surprise!)
• Confidence & turn-taking

What looks like play is actually whole-child development happening in real time — social, emotional, language, motor, and thinking skills all woven together in a fun, low-pressure environment.

🌟 Saturday Social Group runs weekly from 10:00–12:00.
Each week features a different theme — always engaging, always intentional, and always designed to support connection and growth.

Come build, create, explore, and grow with us…
Who knows what we’ll think up next? 💛
