We had an incredible evening celebrating the momentum leading up to the "Little City, Big Dreams" Gala at our VIP Cocktail Reception!

Surrounded by dedicated supporters, partners, and friends, we were proud to honor our 2026 Luminary Award recipients, Gil & Betty Fergus, along with IKEA Schaumburg as our Corporate Partner of the Year. Their passion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to our mission continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.

This special night was just a glimpse of what’s to come—and we’re so excited to carry this energy into the Gala this Saturday!

IKEA has gone above and beyond in their support of Little City, dedicating countless hours to bringing the Bell Family Art Center to life. But their impact is more than just furniture. They’ve poured creativity and thoughtfulness into curating a space that’s both therapeutically enriching and welcoming for our participants. From sourcing the perfect products to designing every detail, IKEA’s team has gone the extra mile to ensure the arts center is tip-top. Even their kitchen team thoughtfully designed a whole café with ADA accessibility, smooth flow, and safety in mind, truly considering every aspect of the participant experience.

Beyond the Art Center, IKEA has also joined in our holiday traditions, coming out during the festive season to help with campus-wide decorating, spreading cheer and joy to everyone at Little City.

We are so grateful for IKEA’s dedication, creativity, and the genuine care they bring to every project and volunteer day. They make Little City shine brighter every time!

In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to celebrate the people who give their time, energy, and heart to our community.

Andy Ristau has been a passionate and dedicated supporter of Little City for 7 years, and his impact can be felt across our community. As Co-Chair of our Associate Board, he plays a key role in bringing people together by leading events, building connections, and creating meaningful opportunities for others to get involved in our mission.

His commitment goes far beyond leadership. Andy is a constant presence at Little City events, always ready to volunteer, lend a hand, and show up with enthusiasm and care. His advocacy for Little City is unwavering, and he continuously finds ways to amplify our work and engage those around him. What makes Andy’s support even more special is his deep, personal connection to our mission. Having previously worked as a DSP for 6 years, he brings a unique perspective, compassion, and understanding to everything he does.

Andy leads with the kindest heart, and we are so grateful for the energy, dedication, and joy he brings to Little City each and every day.

Youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Illinois — especially those with high behavioral support needs — face a system that cannot meet their needs. Critical supports often disappear just as young people reach adulthood, placing families and providers in crisis and pushing youth toward unsafe or inappropriate residential options.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we’re grateful for our corporate partners whose generosity and commitment help create a lasting impact at Little City every day.

Every year, EY’s team rolls up their sleeves to help get our Horticulture Center ready for the annual plant sale. From cleaning the center, landscaping the front and back of the building, to helping with signage and setup, they ensure the event is a success for our participants and the community.

But their support doesn’t stop there. EY also champions Little City’s mission through ongoing engagement LCI.

We are so grateful for EY’s dedication, enthusiasm, and the positive impact they continue to make at Little City. Their team embodies what it means to volunteer with heart and we couldn’t do it without them!

This is what partnership looks like.

The amazing IKEA Schaumburg team rolled up their sleeves to help build the furniture that will fill our new Arts Center, a space designed to inspire creativity, independence, and joy for the individuals with disabilities we serve.

IKEA’s passion, generosity, and genuine care for our community shine through in every piece they assemble and every moment they give. We’re honored to recognize

IKEA as our Corporate Partner of the Year and are deeply thankful for their dedication to making our shared local community more inclusive and vibrant.
Together, we’re building more than a space — we’re building opportunity.

We’re honored to recognize an outstanding individual volunteer, Paul Ivaska, whose passion and initiative have created something truly special at Little City Foundation. In November 2023, Paul expressed interest in starting a photography club at Little City’s Countryside Center, and what began as a small group of participants meeting every other week has grown into a vibrant and engaged community. Today, the Countryside Photography Club plays an important role in events and daily life, capturing moments from dances and activities and sharing them with the broader community, including families. Through collaboration and creativity, participants are not only learning new skills but also helping preserve meaningful memories.

Paul’s thoughtful leadership and dedication have shaped the club into a welcoming, professional, and empowering space. From organizing sessions to creating personalized touches that foster pride and belonging, his impact is felt by everyone involved. We are deeply grateful for Paul’s commitment and for the joy and connection he brings to our community. Thank you, Paul, for making such a lasting difference.

The students at the Little City Center for Education celebrated Earth Day with a friendly classroom competition!

Each class was given scavenger hunt directives like: hugging a tree, picking up litter, finding something green and turning off lights. Each directive earned points for their classroom! It was a beautiful day to get outside and celebrate the earth!

This National Volunteer Week, we’re grateful for our corporate partners whose ongoing support and dedication help drive meaningful impact at Little City every day.

Vistex consistently shows up for Little City with creativity and heart. Their team has joined us for Field Day at our school, bringing fun and smiles to our participants. They’ve also spent time at our Countryside Center, doing arts & crafts and building meaningful connections with the people we serve.

Beyond hands-on volunteering, Vistex goes the extra mile by fulfilling wishlists, supporting employee giving campaigns, and finding ways to give back year-round. Their generosity, dedication, and enthusiasm make a lasting impact on our community.

We are so grateful for Vistex’s ongoing support, their caring employees, and the joy they bring to Little City every time they volunteer.
