The Beyond the Bridge Mentor Program is helping youth build brighter futures 📈

Through one-on-one mentoring, we connect children and teens (ages 11-17) with caring adult mentors who offer guidance, encouragement, and a positive influence during key years of growth.

Together, mentors and mentees participate in engaging activities and outings that strengthen their connection, build confidence, and create lasting memories, all with ongoing support from our Mentor Program team.

We had an amazing time at Harper College’s Trunk or Treat! 🍍

This year’s theme was SpongeBob SquarePants, and our team went all out from jellyfish and Krabby Patties to our favorite Bikini Bottom characters!

It was so much fun handing out candy, seeing everyone’s creative costumes, and connecting with our community.

Meet Erica 🏐

Erica, a 17-year-old student, came to therapy struggling with mood swings, depression, and school conflicts. After a dispute with a teammate led to a temporary suspension from her volleyball team, her coach encouraged her parents to seek counseling at The Bridge.

Over the next year, with steady support from her counselor and a safe space to grow, Erica built emotional awareness, learned healthier coping skills, and reconnected with what mattered most.

Through evidence-based strategies and a strong therapeutic relationship, she regained confidence, stabilized her mood, and learned to express herself without conflict.

By the end of treatment, Erica was thriving again, both in school and in life, showing the power of compassionate, consistent care.

We are proud to celebrate Heather's 25 years of service and dedication to The Bridge! 🎉

During her time at The Bridge, Heather has worn many hats: supervising clinical staff, managing teams, taking on-call shifts, and now leading our quality assurance and accreditation efforts. She has been a source of support and guidance for colleagues across generations of teams.

Heather has remained determined through times of change, challenge, and growth. Her commitment to excellence has helped carry The Bridge forward year after year.

As Heather reflects on her journey, she shares:

"Over the last 25 years, I have seen The Bridge continually evolve and adapt in response to the needs of the community, while staying focused on our core mission of providing the best mental health services to children and families. I am honored to be a part of that evolution.”

We are deeply grateful for her 25 years of service and for the countless ways she has lifted up her colleagues, strengthened our programs, and advanced our mission.
