RN Charge Nurse Dwayne Smith was nominated by family member Beverly Mcmain. The following is her nomination of Dwayne: Dwayne Smith takes care of Ann Haynes, affectionately known as “Mother Haynes.” For years, the family tried coaxing Mother Haynes to get out of her room, go to the dining area for meals, and participate in activities. Dwayne remained steadfast in getting her out with his gentle prodding, now she readily goes for her meals in the dining room for at least lunch and dinner. Dwayne shows empathy, is very patient, kind, and gentle, and he respectfully communicates in a manner that seems to encourage the patient to participate in their own well-being. Dwayne’s approach to patient care respects the patient's preference while not compromising their specific medical needs. He allows for shared decision making, thus allowing patient to maintain their dignity and feeling of independence, qualities sadly lacking in the healthcare industry these days. We are very happy with the care and attention Dwayne has provided to Mother Haynes. Dwayne engages the family in patient care, which makes for a positive environment. Dwayne does what it takes to provide the best possible outcome for all. Congratulations Dwayne!
