Divine Island Design is a local business in Big Pine Key, Florida that was started in 2017. The owners are Braxton & Erica Frankenbery. The Florida Keys was our paradise for over 10 years as we vacationed in the Marathon area. In February 2016, we moved from Columbus, Ohio to Big Pine Key. We left our home, family and Erica left her job as a microbiologist to move to paradise. We knew God had a pl

an for us because all we needed was provided. Erica started working as a bank teller. Braxton continues to work as a project manager in telecom. However, a piece still seemed to be missing. We used Braxton’s hobby of woodworking and Erica’s hobby of socializing to start Divine Island Design. With almost 20 years of woodworking experience, we use our talents and share them with the rest of the Florida Keys. Braxton’s beautiful projects and Erica’s skill for networking has allowed us to start our dream business. Our store is located at 29928 Overseas Highway, Big Pine Key, FL 33043. We are next to Shell gas station. You can watch us turn pens and rings in the store! We are open 7 days a week!

The sun has set on day 2 of the and it’s such a beauty! this one is pretty good! Thank you all that came out and supported us and purchased a Divine Pen. Show/Shop update - I am setup at the this weekend. If you’re in the area, stop by and say hello! This will be are only show until DC later this year. Since December I have been dealing with a back issue that has caused pain and numbness in my left leg. This hasn’t allowed me very much shop time the last few months. I got an epidural steroid injection on Tuesday which will hopefully help me get thru until I have surgery in mid-April. Because of surgery, I will be down for at least a few weeks. The neurosurgeon told me full recovery will be about 2 months. I know a lot of you ask how Erica is doing. She is working on having genetic testing done for Connective Tissue Disorder, which would explain a lot of the issues she has had. She is hanging in there with so much going on. She keeps a positive attitude as she can. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers so much. God bless!

Shop update: the last few months my heart PVC issues have steadily gotten worse. I haven’t been in the shop much at all especially the last couple weeks. Today I had a heart ablation procedure to help get rid of the PVCs. Things seemed to go well and will have a follow up with the electrophysiologist in 3 months. I have to take it easy for the next few days and should be full go next week. If you have reached out via messages or email this last week or so, I will get caught up over the next couple days. Thank you all for your patience and support! Oh and a random pic that I took of the northern lights a few nights ago that may be an inspiration for some pens in the future.

I haven’t had very much shop time the last couple months. We’ve had over 25 doctor’s appointments since September between me, Erica and our youngest son who was diagnosed with epilepsy at 28 years old. So needless to say it has been very hectic. Anyway these two beautiful Agape models will be with me at the this weekend. The blanks were made by Lisa and are absolutely stunning. Just throwing this out here. I have had a couple people ask me to make a pen copying another makers design. I will not do this and shame on them for asking. If you don’t like the original maker or can’t wait on their commission list, then find a different pen. Many of us that have been around for a while know the work it takes to build a brand and a unique pen design. While many of our basic pens may look the same, there are some designs that are very unique and most of the time we have spent many hours, sometimes days, creating our “perfect” pen design. To see it copied by someone else is not a good feeling and very disheartening. I love doing commissions and appreciate the support from all our customers but please keep this in mind when asking for a custom order. Thank you all! Hope to see you soon at the Orlando Pen Show.
