Kharam Baricaua Molbog of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) achieved a remarkable feat, clinching the Top 1 spot in the October 2025 Physician Licensure Exam (PLE), following his earlier success as the topnotcher in the 2022 MedTech board exam.

“I do not come from a family of doctors, nor do I come from a rich family… I was also not a very stellar kid growing up. I am just an ordinary person,” he humbly shared.

“People have always referred to me as a late bloomer,” he added, revealing that he was never among the top students in elementary and high school and even failed the UPCAT.

Pataas nang pataas ang bilang ng mga pasyenteng dinadala sa mga ospital dahil sa flu-like symptoms na tinatawag na Systemic Viral Infection (SVI) sa pagpapatuloy ng tag-ulan, ayon sa Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPI) nitong Biyernes.

Ayon sa PHAPI, nangyayari ang SVI kapag kumakalat ang virus sa buong katawan, at karaniwang sintomas nito ay lagnat, pagod, pananakit ng kalamnan, at pananakit ng ulo.

Sinabi naman ni PHAPI president Dr. Jose Rene de Grano, ang mga batang may ganitong sintomas ay nai-confine sa ospital nang hindi bababa sa apat na araw, maliban na lang kung may komplikasyon tulad ng pneumonia, kung saan maaaring manatili sa ospital ang pasyente mula isang linggo hanggang 12 araw.

Samantala, patuloy naman ang paalala ng Department of Health (DOH) sa publiko na sumunod sa wastong paglilinis ng katawan para mapigilan ang pagkalat ng mga nakakahawang sakit.
