Have Hashimoto’s and still not feeling right? 🤔

Autoimmune diseases often overlap. If you have Hashimoto’s, you may also have another autoimmune condition like Sjögren's, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or inflammatory bowel disease.

Symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, weight gain, and dry skin can overlap across multiple autoimmune diseases — which is why proper testing matters.

👉 If symptoms persist, talk to your doctor and ask about further autoimmune testing.

Did you know you give up your Medicare card when you join Medicare Advantage? ⚠️

When you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, you no longer use your red, white, and blue government Medicare card. Instead, your care is paid for and managed by a private insurance company.

That means you’re not using traditional Medicare anymore — you’re using a privatized version of it, with the insurance company making decisions about coverage and payments.

💡 Understanding this difference is important before choosing a plan.

Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease (UCTD): What You Should Know

UCTD is a real autoimmune condition—even if it doesn’t fit neatly into one diagnosis yet. Symptoms can vary, change over time, and may overlap with diseases like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or Sjögren’s.

Early evaluation, regular follow-up, and individualized care matter. If you have persistent symptoms, don’t ignore them—talk to a rheumatologist.

Fatigue isn’t always just stress.

For some people, chronic fatigue can be a sign of Sjögren's syndrome — an autoimmune condition that causes inflammation and symptoms like dry eyes, dry mouth, joint pain, muscle pain, and exhaustion.

About 30% of people with Sjögren's experience chronic fatigue. With proper diagnosis and treatment, most patients can live a normal life — and new therapies are on the way.

👉 If these symptoms sound familiar, get checked. Questions? Drop a comment below.

Never stop Prolia without talking to your doctor ⚠️

Prolia is commonly used to treat osteoporosis and osteopenia by slowing bone loss and helping build bone density. But stopping Prolia suddenly can cause a serious rebound effect.

When Prolia is stopped, bone loss can accelerate rapidly, increasing the risk of spinal compression fractures and hip fractures. That’s why Prolia should never be stopped abruptly. If it needs to be discontinued, patients must transition to another medication, such as a bisphosphonate, to help protect bone density.

💡 Key takeaway: Prolia requires ongoing medical supervision. Shots should be given on time, and any changes should be carefully planned with a doctor.

👉 If you or someone you know is on Prolia, talk to your doctor before making any changes.

Not sure if you qualify for a clinical trial? 🧪

The process is often easier than people think. Every clinical trial has inclusion and exclusion criteria — such as age, pregnancy status, disease activity, or other medical conditions. Because every trial is different, the best way to know if you qualify is simply to get screened.

Being part of a clinical trial also comes with important benefits:

High-level, closely monitored medical care

Access to new medications before they’re widely available

Little to no out-of-pocket cost, since trial sponsors often cover medications

For patients facing expensive treatments or limited insurance coverage, clinical trials can be a valuable option.

👉 Talk to your doctor to see if a clinical trial may be right for you.

Big news from the research side of One Rheumatology. Our clinical trial found encouraging improvements in psoriatic arthritis patients with obesity when Taltz® was paired with GLP-1 therapy. This could signal a new approach to managing inflammation, joint symptoms, and metabolic health together. Dr. Stermer is breaking down what this means—and why clinical trials are shaping the future of autoimmune care. Always consult your physician before changing treatment.
