if you’ve spent your whole life being “the easy one,” “the flexible one,” “the one who never makes it a big deal”…this is for you. 🌊

people pleasing isn’t kindness. it’s your nervous system trying to keep you safe from conflict, rejection, and taking up too much space.

and it really worked! (until it didn’t)

the exhaustion of monitoring everyone’s mood, the spiral when someone seems off, the way you replay conversations at 2am wondering what you did wrong.. ( yeah I see you 👀)

This is years of your brain running a story that says: if everyone is happy, then you are safe.

Im here to tell you- you don’t have to keep living by that story.

swipe to learn how to start noticing & rewriting the narratives that keep you stuck in the cycle.

save this for the next time your brain starts filling in blanks. 🫶🏻

If you’re tired of being who everyone else expects you to be, here’s something worth knowing: there IS a way out.
It starts with something a lot simpler than you might think….

It starts with noticing the story. đź“–

Most events in life aren’t actually good or bad …they just are.
What makes them feel one way or the other is the story we tell ourselves about them.

This is a reminder that you’re allowed to rewrite the stories…all of them. 🌊

Save this for later.
Send it to someone who needs to hear it.

Lately I’ve been thinking about the roles we play.

For a long time, mine was people-pleaser, peacekeeper, the one who made everything okay for everyone else, even when I was quietly falling apart on the inside.

It worked (until it really, really didn’t.)

Now what I’ve come to understand is that so much of it came down to a story. The story I was telling myself about what I HAD to be, what would happen if I said no and what it meant if someone was upset with me.

Most of those stories are not facts, they’re just interpretations that are running on autopilot and defaulting to worst-case scenario.

Here’s what I want you to know: you can rewrite it!

First I to want you to notice your story.
Then, strip it down to just the facts.
You should ask questions instead of assuming.
And when you rewrite, give yourself a kinder narrative.

You’re not stuck in the role you’ve been playing because you are the freakin author!!! 🌊 🌺🫶🏻

Something I tell my clients to do when a hard emotion comes up is to set a timer for 90 seconds and just let it be there.

No making to do lists, no calling someone, no scrolling.
Just sit with it and notice where you feel it in your body.

Over-thinkers tend to be under-feelers, and most of us have never actually given ourselves permission to just feel something without immediately trying to fix it.

Try it today and let me know how it goes. 🌊

Being a therapist doesn’t make you immune to the things you’re treating.

And yet we walk around acting like it should.

Like the license is a shield.
Like knowing the clinical language for what you’re feeling means you’re not really feeling it.

You sit with other people’s pain all day and then you go home and you don’t know what to do with your own.

You cancel your own therapy because your schedule is full of other people’s.

You know what nervous system regulation is and your body hasn’t felt regulated in months.

This is not a personal failure.
It’s what happens when a you ask yourself to pour endlessly from your cup and nobody asks what’s refilling you.

Reminder- You are not a bottomless freakin resource!

(And pretending you are is not dedication…It’s a slow erosion.)

So what are you actualllly doing to take care of yourself?

Not the textbook answer.
The real one.

Therapists spend their days holding space for other people’s pain, grief, fear, and growth.

In the middle of all of that, it’s easy to forget that you’re a person too.

You are allowed to need support.
You are allowed to not be okay.
You are allowed to be held. đź’™

Save this and find 10 minutes before April is actually over.

Grab a notebook, go through each question slowly, and just write whatever comes up first.

Don’t edit it or fix it. Just let it be there on the page.

If something surfaces that feels bigger than a journal entry…that’s what I’m here for. 🌊🌺🫶🏻
