How the teeth tell the tale! This post is inspired by that of one posted by Mercedes Ramos Vértiz, a dentist in Buenos Aires!
The first photo, captured by Dr. Weston A. Price reflects the wide facial structure that allows our 32 teeth to come in without obstruction. He found this with virtually all the non-industrialized people he visited in the 1930's who ate a traditional, nutrient-dense diet.
The second photo, also captured by Dr. Price, illustrates the pattern he discovered wherever he traveled: when nutritious diets were replaced by "modern, refined foods" — such as white flour, cottonseed oil and canned and condensed milk —adult teeth decayed and the children's teeth were crooked and crowded, which is referred to as malocclusion. Dr. Price concluded that this was because their palates did not widen to the proper breadth due to a lack of vital nutrients needed to complete their development.
After he visited numerous places as diverse as Africa, Peru, Switzerland and the Outer Hebrides off the coast of Scotland, Dr. Price compared those who consumed a nutritious, traditional diet and their counterparts who ate "modern" diets. He concluded that malocclusion is a nutritional problem. The development of the facial structure is compromised due to lack of nutrients.
