** Celebrating Naturopathic Medicine Week **

Have you met Shannon Sinsheimer, ND? Dr. Sinsheimer opened Optimal Health, the Coachella Valley's first naturopathic clinic fourteen years ago and continues to provide quality primary care and specialty services to our community.

She earned her medical doctorate from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon, and now actively legislates on behalf of her profession.

Dr. Sinsheimer has been nominated as one of Coachella Valley's Women of Impact 2022. With this nomination comes a responsibility to continue to educate women on the risks and prevention of heart disease.

Over the next month we will be posting opportunities to assess your own heart health, make heart healthy nutrition and lifestyle changes, and learn skills to help others, such as online CPR training.

If you are asking if I feel you should get the COVID-19 vaccine for most every person my answer is, YES.

Yesterday I received my 1st Covid-19 vaccine.

I know there will be some who disagree with my choice and my opinion.

But my choice, is to be part of the solution as I see it.

The pandemic has caused global economic destruction, increased su***de rates, food insecurities, mental, social, and emotional disruptions in children some of those who cannot escape their turbulent home life to attend a closed school, and of course the 400k lives lost in our country alone nevermind the world death toll.

So, whatever minimal harm may befall me, which I predict is none, is nothing compared to the worldwide devastation.

There are 2 ways out of this at this very moment that have been agreed upon globally- modifying human behavior and vaccines. I choose to be part of the path out of this mess and I am proud to do so.

There are some concerns about the vaccine that are valid. However in a public health crisis we engage in the 'least harm model' understanding that any course of action has harm and we must find the path with the most minimal. The path of vaccination is the least harm at this point and we hope for more options when we can lower the infection rate nationally and globally.
