"DRG Stimulation is similar to Spinal Cord Stimulation, but works by stimulating dorsal root ganglia (DRGs). These are structures along the spinal column made up of densely populated sensory nerves, and they act like traffic lights, regulating signals and sensations that travel through nerve fibers along the spinal column to the brain. "TPI is a procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points, or knots of muscle that form when muscles do not relax or spasm. Trigger points may irritate the nerves around them and cause referred pain, or pain that is felt in another part of the body. A long-acting steroid is injected, along with a local anesthetic, into the affected muscle group. The steroid helps to provide long-term reduction of inflammation and pain."
