How about you? 🧡

If anyone needs training… it’s parents.

Everything your little one does is BIOLOGICALLY normal.
It is what your baby was designed to do.

Frequent feeding? NORMAL
Always wanting to be in your arms? NORMAL
Hates sleeping alone aka the crib? NORMAL
Loves being rock? Considering the womb was a cradle…
yep totally NORMAL.

Now let me ask you this…

How often do YOU eat?
Do you like cuddling ?
What about sleeping alone?
If it were possible… wouldn’t you love to be rocked to sleep?

Babies aren’t meant to be trained.

We live in a society that rushes babies to grow up. From bouncers, to weaning off breast milk second solids enter the picture… everything is backwards.

Infants signal their needs for more than just food. They also need comfort, closeness and warmth… all of which they had in the womb.

Touch is fundamental to human communication, bonding, and health. As adults… we require human touch to thrive… and so do babies!

In just a short few years… your baby will be walking and exploring the world and they won’t need you as much as they do now.

So next time your little one is in need of your ‘assistance’ aka love and responsiveness, realize that they aren’t doing it to manipulate you or make you feel hopeless… they are doing it because they NEED you.

Breastfeeding doesn’t just make milk.. it keeps the hormone prolactin high, which rewires her brain to be more alert, sensitive, and tuned in to the baby.

At the same time, hormones like estrogen and progesterone stay low, which affects her mood, energy, sleep, and even intimacy.
So if she’s more tired, more emotional, or more focused on the baby than anything else.. it’s not “just in her head.”

It’s biology.
Breastfeeding keeps her body and mind in a postpartum state for as long as she nurses. She’s not back to “normal” yet. She’s doing life-sustaining, body-altering, and emotionally demanding work every single day.

Thank you for the patience, understanding, and effort in taking care of her 🤍

Big shoutout and thank you to these women for holding space for those of us who have experienced Pregnancy & Infant Loss during the Wave of Light event.

This is the first time I’ve really acknowledged my two oldest children passed verbally speaking about them as miscarriages as I have held space for others.

It wasn’t until recently this summer during a healing session as I spoke the words “ I have been through this as well” that I asked myself have I really processed and healed from my previous losses?

During the event I created a memory box for my two angel babies. The box reads “ two souls kissed my womb and returned to the stars.” I remember the dates they were brought earthside so I wrote them next to two tiny stamped feet.

The past couple of months I’ve sat with this grief and truly acknowledged the 16 year old girl who felt she had to grieve her loss alone due to guilt and shame.

And the 22 year old young woman who felt slightly reliveed due to a domestic violence situation, which also brought up guilt and shame.

Going to this event with my children, pregnant and the support of my husband meant the world to me.

Although my youngest children don’t quite understand, I was able to explain to my oldest son what this event meant and why we were there.

Thank you again for welcoming myself and my family and holding space for the community 💜

Today I honor the original caretakers of the land and the deep roots of Indigenous peoples. This day carries meaning for me as I reflect on my own family and where I come from.

My grandmother and most of my family is from Chihuahua, México. My grandmothers’ parents came to America carrying the weight of survival while raising a family of 12. In that journey, many traditions were left behind, but what they passed down was love, resilience, and the importance of family. That legacy lives in me.

Some of my sweetest memories are sitting with my grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-aunts, drinking cafecito together and the times my great-grandmother played the piano. When I was younger, my grandmother would make me sopita usually when I would get sick, and somehow that simple meal carried generations of care within it. My grandmother still tells me stories of growing up and visiting Mexico. Those moments are the heartbeat of where I come from.

This is why I’ve been digging into my roots, seeking out the traditions and practices that tie me closer to my lineage and ancestors. It’s how I remember what was set aside, and it’s why I share these gifts today as offerings in my work and in my life.

Being connected to Indigenous roots is not only about looking back. It’s about honoring survival as sacred, love as tradition, and remembering what guides us forward. Today I celebrate Indigenous peoples everywhere. My friends, my community, and all who continue to carry wisdom and culture with such strength.🧡

Breast Health During Pregnancy & Postpartum 💖

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder that breast health matters at every stage of life including pregnancy and postpartum.

During these seasons, your breasts go through many changes: tenderness, growth, and preparing for lactation.

While these shifts are natural, it is also important to know your normal so you can recognize when something feels different.

🎀Tips for Breast Health in Pregnancy & Postpartum:

🌸Practice gentle self-exams to notice any unusual lumps, pain, or changes in skin texture.

🌸Stay mindful of blocked ducts or mastitis. These can be common in breastfeeding but should not be ignored.

🌸Keep your care team informed of any changes. Do not wait until it feels serious.

🌸Hydration, nutrition, and rest also play a role in healthy breast tissue.

🎀How doulas support breast health:
As doulas, we are not medical providers, but we walk beside you with care, education, and resources. Many doulas and birthworkers continue their education as IBCLCs, lactation education specialists, or lactation consultants to better support families on their feeding journey.

As a doula and lactation education specialist, I offer guidance and resources to help you understand your body, care for your breasts, and feel supported through each transition. Whether you are pregnant, postpartum, or navigating breastfeeding challenges, you deserve care that honors your whole self.

Your health matters for you, your baby, and your future. 💕
