Are you aware of what phase your spine is in?….🫢

🔵Normal is everything is all fine and dandy. Issues in this stage are typically easy to work on

🟣Phase 1 is a misaligned normal. This is where the problem begins. In this phase you may feel off and on discomfort that if you rest “just ends up going away in a few days”. Unfortunately the underlying problem still remains. We would optimally want to catch any issues in this stage due to preventing or slowing down future damage

🟢Phase 2 is where the permanent damage starts to set in. This is where the disc (the cushion in your spine) starts to get smaller and dehydrated. If you have this problem, you have a higher chance of getting inflammation in the spine from normal everyday activities. In this phase you may feel acute issues suddenly rise in certain activities or in some patients, not even doing anything different.

🟡Phase 3 is where the deterioration of the disc gets more severe and the vertebrae themselves start to deteriorate as well. This calcification or bone spurs is highly inflammatory and can lead to severe felt problems. In this phase you may not have the range of motion you used to have. You may feel radiating pain to other parts of your body. You may have chalked up the feeling of the pain as “just getting older”. Fortunately, everything in the body is a cause and effect and age is not the sole cause of your problem.

🔴Phase 4 is fusion or near fusion of the joint leading to lack of range of motion or immobility. These joints can cause severe pain and can effect the nerves that come out of the spine all over your body. Ideally, you want to prevent your back from ever looking like this. In this phase you may already be using a walker and accommodating your life around your pain. Although there is severe deterioration, there are still some things that can be done to hopefully decrease your symptoms. However, it’s is tremendously harder when you are in this phase.
