Happy National Eating Disorder Awareness Week from everyone here at Desert Marriage and Family Counseling! In the United States, 28.8 million Americans will suffer from an eating disorder at some point in their lives. Eating disorders are serious but treatable mental and physical illnesses that can affect people of all genders, ages, races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, body shapes, and weights. International Day of Persons with Disabilities lets us focus on challenges faced by people living with disabilities. The day doesn’t discriminate between mental and physical disabilities, and the spirit of the day is to ensure that all people in the world have equal opportunities for work, play, health, and success. People with disabilities can be and very often are contributing and valued members of society, and today is all about appreciating them. This day is about promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life so they can participate fully, equally and effectively in society with others, and face no barriers in all aspects of their lives.
Let’s celebrate today by continuing to advocate and acknowledge all persons with disabilities 💙

“…restrictions on people’s rights have contributed to an increase need for mental health services, and will continue to do so.” - -
