Spotlight on Revive to Thrive's own, Tanisha Boyd, RAMHC

We are beyond proud to celebrate Tanisha Boyd, licensed associate mental health counselor, trauma specialist, and now, the first Black clinician to teach Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) in Nairobi, Kenya.

With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and a passion for global mental health equity, Tanisha recently returned from teaching ART to local clinicians in Kenya, bridging healing across borders.

Her work is a powerful reminder that trauma-informed care is a human right, and access to healing should never be bound by geography.

Tanisha, thank you for representing Revive to Thrive with such heart, humility, and brilliance. Your impact is global, and we are so honored to walk beside you.

Optimism isn’t about “just thinking happy thoughts.”
It’s a mental skill, and a powerful one.

📊 Studies show that optimism can:
✨ Boost happiness by up to 30%
✨ Strengthen your immune system
✨ Protect against depression

It’s not about pretending everything’s fine.
It’s about training your brain to ask:
💭 “What’s possible here?”
Instead of:
💭 “What could go wrong?”

When you view challenges as temporary and manageable, you’re more likely to persevere and thrive.

You don’t have to be cheerful all the time.
But you can choose hope.

The mind-body connection is real and powerful.
🧠 Negative thoughts fuel doubt, stress, and shutdown.
💭 Positive thoughts ignite confidence, motivation, and momentum.

This isn’t about toxic positivity.
It’s about intention. About balance.

Start by tuning into your inner voice:
👂 Are you tearing yourself down?
Or cheering yourself on?

Your thoughts don’t have to be perfect.
But they should be helpful.

✨ Shape your mindset, one word at a time.
Your body, your energy, and your life will follow.

Joy is a choice, not a fluke.
It’s not something you “stumble into.”
It’s something you choose, again and again, even when life feels like a storm.

🌤 Choosing joy doesn’t mean ignoring pain.
It means letting light coexist with the shadows.

Make it a practice:
☕ A slow sip of coffee
😂 A deep belly laugh
🌿 A quiet moment of stillness

Joy is sacred.
💛 Seek it. Savor it. Protect it.

📵 Remember when family time meant stories, outdoor play, and talking over dinner?
Not scrolls. Not silence. Not side-by-side screens.

Today’s digital distractions are slowly replacing the deep connection we used to create by just being present.

💔 Disconnected families often struggle with:
• Poor communication
• Emotional distance
• Higher stress and conflict

But here’s the good news:
You can bring back what worked, one habit at a time.

✨ Unplug for a meal.
✨ Take a walk together.
✨ Ask a real question and listen to the answer.

You don’t need perfection. You just need presence.
Start where you are. Start today.

🧠 PTSD doesn’t wear one face.
Sometimes it looks like nightmares.
Sometimes it’s silence.
Sometimes it’s being “on edge” and not knowing why.

⚠️ Common signs include:
• Nightmares
• Flashbacks
• Avoidance
• Emotional numbness
• Constant anxiety

These aren’t overreactions. They’re real. They’re valid. They’re trauma responses, your mind and body trying to protect you.

You’re not “too sensitive.” You’re not dramatic.
You’re responding like any human would to something deeply unsafe.

And here’s the truth:
🖤 Support exists. Healing is possible.
🖤 You don’t have to carry this alone.
🖤 There’s nothing weak about seeking peace.

Let’s stop judging what we don’t understand and start listening.

If this lands just a little too close to home, we are here.

Positivity isn’t a personality trait, it’s a practice.
You’re not “just negative.” You’re untrained. And that can change.

Start here:
✨ Keep a gratitude journal
✨ Say affirmations out loud (even if they feel awkward)
✨ Uplift someone near you
✨ Do one small act of kindness

These aren’t fluff. They’re mental rewiring.
🧠 Neuroscience shows that regular gratitude actually reshapes your brain, building emotional resilience and reducing stress over time.

💬 Whether you write it, speak it, or show it...positivity pays off.

Not overnight. But with every habit, you’re building a mind that looks for light.

Fear wears many faces.
😰 Social anxiety
⚠️ Rational concerns
😨 Phobias
💥 Situational stress

Understanding what kind of fear you’re facing is the first step to choosing the right tools to work through it.

📌 Social fears? Build confidence + communication skills.
📌 Phobias? Exposure therapy or gradual desensitization.
📌 Situational stress? Mindfulness, breathwork, and planning can help.
📌 Rational concerns? Validate them, then break them down into action steps.

💬 No matter the form, your fear is valid.
And more importantly?
It’s manageable.

✨ When you name the fear, you reclaim your power.

Fear will show up, every time you grow.
Starting therapy. Launching your business. Saying “no” for the first time.
Yeah, it’s scary.

But here’s the truth:
💥 Doing it afraid is still doing it.
💥 Courage isn’t fearlessness, it’s movement in spite of it.

You don’t need to wait until you're “ready.”
You just need to decide: I’m going anyway.

✨ This is your sign.
Book the session. Set the boundary. Take the leap.

Your fear doesn't get to run the show anymore.

Want a fast way to calm your mind?
✨ Breathe. No really...deeply.

Studies show deep breathing can lower your heart rate by up to 12 beats per minute. That’s your nervous system shifting from fight-or-flight to safe + grounded.

Try this simple reset:
🫁 Inhale for 4
🫁 Hold for 4
🫁 Exhale for 6
Repeat 5 times.

Notice the shift? That’s your body saying:
“We’re okay now.”

Breathwork isn’t just woo woo, it’s science-backed regulation.
Start your day or reset your mood, with your most powerful tool: your breath.
