Hello family and friends:
It’s time again for our report from Highland Lakes on activities taking place last week!
Monday started off with a competitive game of Blackjack as we continue our search for our overall Champion. Congratulations to Bob F. for winning this week! Bob is now officially in the running for the title, which will be crowned in six weeks.
Unfortunately, Melissa was out sick this week, but we kept the fun going. Carolyn stepped in on Tuesday and Thursday to lead morning exercise. She did a terrific job and kept everyone moving.
Tuesday afternoon was our Resident Council meeting, with Peggy C. stepping in as interim Resident Council President. Thank you, Peggy, for your leadership and participation!
On Wednesday, residents enjoyed a lunch outing to Paul’s Chicago Pizza. The thin crust was crispy, the toppings were generous, and everyone came home happy and full. Later that afternoon Danielle coordinated a friendly game of poker.
Thursday morning Pastor Bill Magee led Bible Study, which is always well-attended and meaningful for our residents. In the afternoon, Moe stepped in to call Bingo; a crowd favorite here at Highland Lakes! Plenty of smiles and a few lucky winners.
By Friday morning, the frigid January air had arrived, so we warmed up indoors with a fun game of volleyball. In the afternoon, Happy Hour featured warm Hot Buttered Rum which was a perfect winter treat to end the week.
And of course, our resident therapy dog Max made the rounds in style (bowtie and all!) helping to keep spirits (and hearts!) warm. He even squeezed in a relaxing spa moment of his own, getting a massage from one of our staff. Max is always available for petting.
Hope you are all staying warm and enjoying the new year!
