Discover Ayurvedic practices of healing, explore the rich fauna and flora of the forest (a local guide will show and teach you) and spend a magical afternoon in the indigenous Talamanca reserve, learning local traditions and chocolate-making. A $300 non-refundable deposit is required (if the retreat will not take place you will receive the deposit back otherwise it will be a part of your payment!) to hold your spot. The overnight cost is $2,300 per person in a shared guest room with a shared bathroom with three vegetarian meals (meat/ fish order is possible for a small up-price) and one trip to the local beach. It finally happens!!! Katrin Elia Yoga is offering its first Yin Yoga Class on the Beach. If you don't know what Yin Yoga is, think about the opposite of all the yoga styles that you might know. Yin Yoga is the most passive form of Yoga, mostly practice on the floor with long holdings for several minutes. This yoga practice is helping students to become more flexible or stay flexible. Many athletes, who know about this yoga style, like to practice it as an addition to the more active sport that they are doing. The idea is stretch and stress the connective tissue, facia, and ligaments to gain flexibility. IT IS THE YIN (passive) TO THE YANG (active). The body and mind need to be in balance in order to stay healthy. Anyway, if you are interested in learning and practicing Yin Yoga, join me for a session (all levels, no age limit!!) on the beach. Bring a yoga mat, or large towel (a mat is the better choice in your opinion). If you have yoga blocks bring them. A sofa pillow or/and larger towel would be great as well (bring props that don't mind the sand). The suggested donation is $10 (cash or check)...and if you want to give more because you enjoy my teaching I do not say no. I will wait for you on the beach (North Beach).

Next Sessions: Thursday, May 21, June 18, July 9 and July 23....Also, the fee to enter the state park is not included in the suggested donation.

This 4class series is for students that are newer to yoga (for all ages). Use the chair as a tool to work on more basic yoga poses both standing and sitting. The goal is to gain more flexibility and balance in body and mind. Each class will start with a short meditation. A pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) will be included during each session. Classes of this series: Mondays, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9 & 2/23 from 5:30 - 6:30pm. Price: $60 for all four sessions. If you are interested, please sign up soon at the Recreation Center in Palm Harbor. Please join me for a 75min yoga self-care class after the major holiday. This afternoon session will start with some powerful pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) followed by three gentle movements in standing to work the nervous system to wake up the awareness in the body, let the blood flow and just letting go of any holdings. These short movements are as well excellent if you have pain in the body. The rest of the class we will practice gentle yoga poses that will restore mobility, strength and balance. You will leave this class lighter, limber, and alert in your body and mind.

Unlike more vigorous forms of yoga, this practice involves holding poses for extended periods, allowing the body to enter a state of deep relaxation and healing. Some of the key benefits are:

Improved Sleep: The deep relaxation techniques used can improve sleep quality.
