WHEN YOU MOVE, YOUR LYMPH MOVES!!!
Some of the best things you can do to maintain a healthy lymphatic system are things you are already doing every day and one of the most important is simply movement. We already know movement benefits our joints, and it’s just as essential for the lymphatic system. Gentle, low-impact activities such as walking, swimming, Tai Chi, and yoga are all excellent options, though they may not suit everyone. Fortunately, small movements throughout the day can be just as effective. Try doing ten ankle pumps while reading emails, pedaling on a small desk bike for five minutes, or performing toe raises while standing at the kitchen sink.
Research show the key isn’t just exercise itself—it’s frequency. Five minutes of movement every hour adds up to 40 minutes by the end of the day, which is far more beneficial for lymphatic flow than a single intense workout. The bottom line: many small efforts add up to big benefits. At Lymphedema Specialists, we design exercise programs tailored to an individual's skill level and integrate exercising into your daily routine so it is convenient and doesn't requires a trip to the gym. So the next time you are standing at your sink - do 10 toe raises!!!!
