In ancient Egyptian religion, the Goddess MA'AT was the Goddess of Order & Balance. She gave the Egyptians a sense of morality and justice.
The Seven Principles of Ma'at are Truth, Justice, Harmony, Balance, Order, Reciprocity, and Propriety. Ma'at was believed to govern the universe, ensuring order and balance in both the cosmos and human society.
She is depicted as a woman with an ostrich feather on her head, which symbolizes truth and balance and is often portrayed with wings.
During the judgment of the dead, Ma'at's feather is used to weigh the heart of the deceased against it. If the heart is lighter than the feather, it signifies a life lived in accordance with Ma'at's principles, and the soul is allowed to proceed to the afterlife.
Pharaohs were seen as earthly embodiments of Ma'at, and their rule was expected to be in accordance with her principles.
Ma'at stands in opposition to chaos, known as Isfet, and Egyptians believed that living according to Ma'at's principles was essential to prevent the universe from descending into disorder.
Ma'ats principles impacted everything from the movement of stars and seasons to the conduct of individuals and the legitimacy of the pharaoh.
Call on her when you want the real truth of a situation, but remember to have a pure heart ❤️
