We believe every resident in our District deserves access to health education, disease prevention and comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, and the opportunity to participate in District matters through access and input to the board. Coachella Valley residents reveal health priorities & needs in new community engagement report

Nearly 67 percent of Coachella Valley residents who recently participated in a community input survey said that “not enough providers” is their biggest barrier to accessing local healthcare, while 61.61 percent shared “long wait times” and 57.14 percent named “cost or insurance issues” as barriers.

That’s one of several findings revealed during a community engagement process led by Sowen consultancy to capture diverse perspectives from across the valley, on behalf of the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation. The process also included seven community listening sessions that were held in person in February – one in each of the District’s geographic zones – and an eighth session that occurred virtually in March.

Residentes del Valle de Coachella revelan prioridades y necesidades de salud en un nuevo informe de participación comunitaria

Casi el 67% de residentes del Valle de Coachella que recientemente participaron en una encuesta comunitaria comentaron que "no tener suficientes médicos" es su mayor barrera para acceder cuidado de salud local, mientras 61.61% compartieron "largos tiempos de espera" y 57.14% identificaron "costo o problemas con seguro médico" como barreras.
