Life is a paradox—we arrive with empty hands, spend much of our time reaching for what we cannot keep, and ultimately leave with nothing to carry. Massage reminds me that the hands are not meant only to grasp, but to listen, to comfort, as vessels toward healing. What truly endures is not what we hold onto, but what the soul receives through presence, touch, and connection.

After my morning hike I saw historical marker number 47, the Ship of the Desert. I also saw some other interesting architecture.

My new haircut

I started my 4-mile hike before sunrise; it was the equivalent of 85 stories in elevation—the trail took me close to Bob Hope's famous former house, designed by John Lautner. I was so high I looked down on the house, but the highlight was seeing three bighorn sheep. I had my reliable water bottles from the University of Wisconsin!!
