Triglycerides are a part of your cholesterol panel that provide us with some great information. When they are high, they can signal that there is inflammation somewhere in the body, and they can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. To keep your triglycerides in a healthy range, reduce sugar/carbohydrate intake, avoid refined and processed foods, choose healthy fats, such as olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil over unhealthy fats, such as vegetable oil, cut back on alcohol, and partake in cardiovascular exercise, such as walking and biking. A natural way to help keep triglycerides in check is to take an omega-3 supplement, such as fish oil, or increase your fish intake. We are so blessed to live in a state where omega-3s are abundant!
