Time for a tale of a patient we are so proud of!
Ethan suffered a horrible accident during his senior hockey season playing for Colony High School. Fracturing his right femur in multiple locations and underwent an extensive surgery in early January this year.
Ethan was the 2023 Alaska State Discus Champion and had many plans for his future that took an abrupt stop in a terrible way.
We started working with Ethan 2 weeks after his surgery, accompanied by a walker, then crutches, until he could eventually walk on his own 2 legs again. The amount of sear dedication, grit and self motivation he has had through his entire rehab process has been nothing short of amazing. Ethan set a goal to defend his State Championship, walk across his graduation stage, and make his Collegiate Athletic dream a reality. A lofty goal for him.
3 time a week focusing on muscle preservation, mobility and soft tissue remodeling around his surgical sites for what felt like months to him probably. Eventually turned into 3 times a week building back his base strength in his right leg with just body weight movements. Then, once cleared by his surgeon, the hard part of building back his strength for the technical demand of discus and shotput throwing.
There were times he probably didn't like me very much, pushing him to his capable limits. But the amount of time Ethan called a "no rep" on himself to get the movement right was a true testament to his lofty goals and determination to meet them.
Ethan signed a Collegiate letter of intent to throw discus for .anchorage, walked across his graduation stage and punched his ticket to the state track championships meet this coming weekend in both Shotput and Discus!
I can't wait to see what great things this guy is capable of. We all could learn a lesson about hardwork and determination from his young man. Congratulations Ethan! Thank you for trusting me to help you.
Best of luck this coming weekend during the State Track and Field meet.
