The Ice Age National Scenic Trail traverses some of Wisconsin's most beautiful natural areas — it also travels through or near hundreds of local communities! 🦣 🥾

We are proud to include 26 of these communities in our Ice Age Trail Community program! Trail Communities are “hiker destinations!” They allow visitors to immerse themselves in Wisconsin's hidden gems and experience local culture.

Ice Age Trail Communities understand the Trail and its importance to the state, and they love it when hikers visit!

In the weeks leading up to the 2025 Mammoth Hike Challenge, we'll share Trail segments and hometown highlights in/near our 26 Trail Communities!

Comment below which three Trail Communities you're excited to visit during the 2025 Mammoth Hike Challenge!

About 1 in 5 people who are infected develop a fever with other symptoms such as headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash. Most people with febrile illness due to West Nile virus recover completely, but fatigue and weakness can last for weeks or months.

About 1 in 150 people who are infected develop a severe illness affecting the central nervous system such as encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) or meningitis (inflammation of the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord).

Symptoms of severe illness include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, muscle weakness, vision loss, numbness and paralysis.
Severe illness can occur in people of any age. However, older people are at greater risk for severe illness if they are infected. People with certain medical conditions, such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, and people who have received organ transplants, are also at greater risk.
Recovery from severe illness might take several weeks or months. Some effects might be permanent. About 1 out of 10 people who develop severe illness affecting the central nervous system die. [cdc.gov]

We are confirming Wisconsin's first human case of virus this year. WNV is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. We urge you to take steps to prevent mosquito bites and possible disease: dhs.wisconsin.gov/news/releases/072825.htm

How did I get here?

Opening my own practice was a leap. If didn’t have 20 years of meditation practice, not only would I not be embarking on this adventure, I wouldn’t be in health care anymore. Really, meditation saved my life and saved my heart that keeps me going in this crazy health care system! I am so grateful to be offering affordable healthcare to my own community. To be working with people directly, without the heavy punitive hand of insurance companies dictating how much time, and what kind of care I can provide, and penalizing both provider and patient for not following their ever-changing rules. This is simple, like meditation, and the hardest work I love
