A healthy self-image is important for kids to develop, because it builds self-esteem, confidence, and a positive outlook. So how do you help your child develop a healthy self-image? If you're not sure, you're not alone. (Parents bring questions about this to us all the time.)

In this short video, Brightline's Director of Coaching, Neal Sundberg, shares three simple ideas on where to start. It's all about leading by example, being excited about your child's effort (not the result), and offering them unconditional love — always.

Get to know our Senior Manager of Data Science, Akash, as he shares insights about his job and life outside of work. Each month, we’ll shine a spotlight on one of our amazing team members.

What is your "why" for working here?
Healthcare has always been my passion, and I’m lucky to work in a place like Brightline where every day offers new opportunities to learn and grow. The team here is incredibly talented, and I’m excited to be part of the movement to reshape mental health care for the better. There is so much potential here and it's inspiring to contribute to such meaningful change!

What excites you most about your job?
For me, working with data isn’t just about finding insights — it’s about making a real impact. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the work I do directly improve how we operate or help a child get the attention they deserve. The power of well-used information is amazing!

What are your favorite family activities?
My favorite moments usually occur around the table while sharing a meal and having great conversations with family and friends, hearing a funny story, or getting a juicy secret. 🍵

What's your go-to way to recharge and relax?
Lately, a perfect day for me is spent at home — soaking up the sun, sipping on fizzy drinks, and making (then eating) good food.

We’re proud to announce the opening of Brightline's first flagship pediatric mental health clinic in Brooklyn.

For years, we’ve delivered high-quality, evidence-based care virtually to families across the country. With our new clinic, we’re bringing that same standard of care to an in-person setting, offering families in the region more flexibility, more support, and more ways to access the help they need.

This clinic represents a new chapter in our ongoing mission: delivering accessible, affordable mental health care that meets kids and families where they are—online or in person.

What is culturally-responsive care?

Neal Sundberg is our Director of Coaching, and he has so much helpful information and guidance for families. Today, he's sharing an easy-to-understand description of what culturally-responsive care is. To begin with, it means understanding your beliefs, values, and culture, and giving you support that reflects it. (Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?) Listen in to learn more about how BrightLife Kids works with different families all across the state.

Kids generally do well when they know what is expected of them.

Irene Biscante, our VP of Coaching, explains how to guide kids into learning what kinds of behaviors reflect family values. It's about being clear, giving praise, and modeling the behavior you want to see. She also talks about how it's never too early to teach kids how to navigate conflicts. Making it better for them is easier (and tempting!), but they build confidence and self-esteem when they're taught how to do it themselves. Listen in for quick, easy-to-follow tips from Irene!
