When you practice self-observation and self-remembering techniques, you can create a mental space, which separates you from your thoughts.
In that state, your thoughts and emotions can’t get hold of you. When you reach such level of higher consciousness, you can start to look for non-binary decisions. These are non-survival options that are not available when you’re lost in your mental activity, which is controlled by your subconscious fight-or-flight defense mechanism.
Sometimes you can create a numbing sensation, where you get overwhelmed and don’t want to deal with the challenges of life. That mental state is more like disassociation and doesn’t help you process your negative thoughts and keeps you stuck in your limiting patterns.
