This patient came to see me because she felt her face looked tired and didn’t reflect how vibrant she felt. She had a prior lower blepharoplasty by another surgeon, but was unhappy with the irregular contours and persistent shadows around her eyes, along with early signs of jowling.

I performed a mini facelift and a lower eyelid blepharoplasty to refine and restore her features while preserving her natural beauty. For this mini facelift, I used the deep plane technique, which releases the facial ligaments and lifts the SMAS layer to achieve long-lasting, natural-looking results. In my “mini facelift” technique, less skin dissection is required, which means a faster recovery for most patients without compromising results nor longevity. This type of procedure is also now often referred to as a preservation deep plan facelift. In my procedure, no drains are used during the recovery and minimal to no bruising occurs for most patients.

The procedure was done under IV sedation, not general anesthesia. She was socially presentable in about a week, though I typically recommend allowing two full weeks before in-person events. Allow two to three months before major events such as a child’s wedding or other significant function.

I’m honored she chose to work with us after consulting with several surgeons, and I deeply appreciate her allowing us to share her photos so others can better understand the process.

If you’re considering a facelift or eyelid surgery and want to know what’s appropriate for your anatomy and goals, I’d be happy to speak with you. What questions do you have about mini facelifts? Comment them below

Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Rejuvenation: How Do You Choose?

If you’re considering facial rejuvenation but aren’t sure where to start, you’re not alone. One of the most common questions I hear from my patients is:

“Do I need surgery, or are non-invasive options enough?”

The truth is, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. It depends on your goals, your anatomy, and your lifestyle.

Non-surgical treatments like Ultherapy, RF skin tightening, and injectables are excellent for early signs of aging, maintenance, or subtle refinement. This is also a great choice because typically, there is less downtime than with surgical options.

Surgical options like facelifts, neck lifts, eyelid surgery, or fat transfer are best suited for more advanced concerns. This approach addresses deep folds, skin laxity, jowling, or structural changes to a greater degree than non-surgical options.

This guide helps break it down, but your best next step is a consultation to see what is best for your specific concerns. For non-surgical options, my team of experts will help curate and implement a personalized treatment plan. If you’re interested in surgery, I would love to discuss your options and personally provide a comprehensive review of what to expect with the various surgical approaches. This lovely patient came to me looking for a long lasting solution to the tired appearance around her eyes. Like many patients, she felt that the lines around her eyes, especially when she smiled, didn’t reflect how vibrant and energetic she truly felt. She wanted a result that would last and that would still feel like her.

I performed an upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, a brow lift, and facial fat transfer. These procedures work together to address volume loss, skin excess, and fine lines that contribute to a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance.

She still looks entirely like herself, just rested, lifted, and refreshed. As a nurse, she did a lot of research and sought many consultations prior to surgery, and I’m truly honored that she entrusted me with her care.

All procedures were performed under IV sedation without the need for general anesthesia or intubation. Patients remain sedated and unaware throughout without the need of being on a ventilator, allowing a faster and more comfortable recovery. Most patients are socially presentable within one to two weeks, with subtle swelling gradually resolving in the months that follow.

Are you done with tired-looking eyes? Schedule your surgical consultation, and I will personally walk through your options.

This is your friendly reminder: your skin doesn’t take summer vacation.

Summer in the Bay Area means more time outdoors, more sun exposure, and more demand on your skin. To help you navigate the season beautifully and safely, here are six curated summer dos and don’ts, along with the medical reasons WHY they matter:

DO: Prioritize Non-Invasive Treatments
In warmer months, sun-safe treatments like Ultherapy, Viora RF, truFlex, and Botox for hyperhidrosis allow you to refresh without risking post-treatment complications. These procedures don’t trigger sun sensitivity and offer minimal downtime, making them ideal for a season packed with plans.

DON’T: Schedule Laser or Deep Resurfacing Before Travel
Treatments like laser resurfacing or deep peels can leave your skin vulnerable to pigmentation and irritation if exposed to UV rays too soon. Even with SPF, vacation-level sun is a risk. These should be reserved for seasons with less exposure and more recovery time.

DO: Use Medical-Grade SPF Daily
Post-treatment or not, SPF is your #1 defense against accelerated aging, pigmentation, and skin cancer. Choose zinc or titanium-based formulas to block both UVA and UVB rays.
