We had a fantastic time honoring the incredible dogs that serve and support Veterans at VA Palo Alto! 🐶💜

Veterans, staff, and visitors connected with service dogs from Paws for Purple Hearts and Warrior Canine Connection, and learned about the powerful role these companions play in the lives of those who’ve served.

The PAWS Pilot Program table was a highlight, sharing how Veterans with PTSD are helping train service dogs for fellow Veterans, creating purpose, healing, and connection.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the bond between Veterans and their four-legged teammates. We’re already looking forward to welcoming these amazing dogs and their handlers back again soon! 🐕‍🦺

Eight veterans from the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center took on the South Fork of the American River, many for the very first time. 🛶🌊

VA Palo Alto implemented VA’s new Surge model, partnering with the Santa Clara County Office of Veteran Services, Rapid Rehousing, Veteran Shelter Programs, and other community non-profits to set up a triage center at Recovery Café in downtown San Jose and meet Veterans where they are.

The effort brought together 42 volunteers , including 24 VA staff, who formed four teams and traveled more than 20 miles of trails, canals, and fields to connect Veterans to housing resources, benefits, and support services.

This is the power of meeting Veterans where they are, and delivering the services they’ve earned. If you know a Veteran experiencing homelessness, encourage them to connect with the VA today for support. 🇺🇸
