Call for Applications: ABOHN Exam Development Advisory Committee (EDAC)

Are you passionate about shaping the future of Occupational Health Nursing (OHN)? The American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN) is now accepting applications for its Exam Development Advisory Committee (EDAC). We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced OHNs to join the ABOHN EDAC with terms beginning February 2026.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to shape the future of the Occupational Health Nursing (OHN) profession by contributing to the development and enhancement of certification exams that reflect current and emerging standards of practice. It also offers a meaningful way to give back to the profession we are proud to serve and represent!

About the Role

EDAC members collaborate to ensure the relevance, rigor, and integrity of ABOHN’s certification exams. This is a fulfilling opportunity to contribute to the profession while gaining valuable experience and networking with OHNs from across the country.

Time Commitment:

Participation in 3–5 virtual meetings per year
Completion of 2-4 hours of exam development tasks between meetings

Attendance at one in-person 2-day meeting (all travel expenses reimbursed)

Continuing Education Credits (CEs) toward ABOHN recertification will be awarded for participation.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible, applicants must:

Be Certified Occupational Health Nurses who meet or exceed current eligibility criteria for the COHN, COHN-S, or CM credentials.
Be in Active status with ABOHN at the time of selection.
Maintain all requirements to remain in Active status throughout the term served on the EDAC.

Please Note:

EDAC members may NOT apply for or sit for any ABOHN certification exams during their service and for two (2) years after their term ends

EDAC members may NOT endorse or participate in any review courses, publications, videos, or programs designed to prepare individuals for ABOHN certification exams during their service and for two (2) years after

Selection is based on diversity of committee members, considering geographic location, education, and practice setting.

Members are appointed for a 2-year term, renewable up to two times (maximum of 6 years total).
