In DOT-regulated environments, timing is everything after an incident.
Alcohol testing must be conducted as soon as possible—ideally within 2 hours, and no later than 8 hours—while drug testing has a maximum window of 32 hours. Missing these deadlines can result in compliance violations and weakened legal defensibility.
