“Won’t I become addicted to oxygen?”
This is one of the most common myths we hear—and the answer is no. Oxygen therapy is not addictive.
Here’s why:
✔ The air you breathe every day is already 21% oxygen. Most people using oxygen therapy only receive a slightly higher amount—just enough to bring blood oxygen back to a safe level.
✔ There’s no clinical evidence that oxygen causes physical addiction or that part-time use leads to full-time dependence.
✔ In fact, using oxygen as prescribed can help stabilize your condition and may prevent the need for increased use later.
