👋🏽🎉 We are thrilled to welcome a new member to our Southern Speech Pediatrics family! ☀️ Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Amy, our newest addition to the team. Amy graduated from Florida State University with her Master’s Degree in Communication Science and Disorders. She has 14 years of experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist. Amy has worked with individuals with a variety of exceptionalities and ages, from early intervention to geriatrics. She is also an amazing mom to a rambunctious one year old. With her passion for helping children communicate and her dedication to making a difference, we know she will be a fantastic asset to our practice.

Did you know that Speech and Language are NOT the same!

If fact, most of the time when parents say “speech delay” - they actually mean “language delay”. You’ll see me use both: speech/language delay to cover both AND to help people who don’t know the specific terms better understand.

Using language to label is often a strength for many Autistic children. They may have strong expressive vocabularies and enjoy labeling the things they love! Some, but not all, Autistic children will have lots of words they use to label, while also struggling using language for a variety of reasons, such as requesting their wants and needs.
