In fact, 1 in 3 women die of cardiovascular disease, more than all cancers and accidental deaths combined. But women often ignore warning signs and assume it’s something else. Today, Dr. Amir Haghighat and Dr. Saeed Khaja presented to physicians from across our region at the Emerald Coast Medical Association CME Beach Retreat. Dr. Haghighat provided updates in detection, prevention, and treatment of Coronary Artery Disease and Dr Khaja provided the latest on cardiac arrhythmias and both participated in a panel discussion and Q&A. This annual event is an opportunity for healthcare providers to learn more about regulatory changes that impact the business of providing medical care plus ongoing advancements in treatments. Cardiovascular Institute is proud to participate and support the ECMA.

Cardiac Electrophysiologist, Dr. Nghia Hoang is always working to bring the very latest technology to local patients. He was the first in our region, from Jacksonville to Mobile, to implant the world’s smallest defibrillation lead this week at HCA Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center. This tiny device from Medtronic, the OmniaSecure, can be placed via catheter for pacing, sensing, cardioversion, and defibrillation therapies, with its very small size reducing the risk of complications.
