October is breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer affects 1 in every 8 women in their lifetime making it the most common cancer in women. Many early breast cancers do not have symptoms such as a lump or pain and are found with screening mammograms. These are recommended yearly beginning at age 40 unless you are considered high risk (which is based on family history and genetic predispositions) when they need to be started earlier. Early detection can make treatment easier and allows for higher cure rates. Our surgeons are experienced in the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous diseases of the breasts. Breast cancer continues to be the #1 cancer diagnosis in women. I have seen many new patients for advanced stage breast cancer in the past year. Many of these advanced stage patients have not had a screening mammogram in years. Breast cancer is typically curable and typically can be treated without chemotherapy, but only if diagnosed at an early stage. Ladies, please do not delay getting your screening mammograms. Also encourage your friends and family members to be vigilant with their screening.

We now have a need for a medical assistant in a busy surgical office. The position is Monday through Thursday and half a day Friday. Will be assisting in checking patients out, scheduling, and some direct patient care. Applicant should have at least one year of experience as an MA or finishing medical assistant training program. Experience with Athena is a plus.

Now that restrictions on surgery have been lifted by our governor, we are back to usual business hours. We are actively reaching out to our patients to schedule surgery that has been delayed. This also applies to in office procedures. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have not been contacted. Also please be patient as we try to get everyone scheduled. Many other surgeons are also trying to schedule cases and we may find the facility schedules overwhelmed.

I apologize to anyone that may experience difficulty reaching my office or myself. We have reduced our time in the office due to reduced patient visits and calls. We are still seeing patients who request appointments on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings, both new and established. Please leave a message or send a message through this page and you should hear back from us within the next working day. We are still able to offer surgeries that cannot be delayed.
