embarked upon the funeral industry in Phenix City, Alabama in February of 1933. Battle, Jr. opened Battle Memorial in Panama City, Florida. His vision of establishing a professional funeral service business for the African American community in Bay County and surrounding areas was an essential part of the legacy he wanted to foster. Originally located at 605 East 10th Street, the Lord blessed the family to build a new facility in 1972. The new facility and current location is 1123 Martin Luther King Jr. BLVD, formerly known as North Cove BLVD. In keeping with the legacy of W.C. Battle, Jr, son Victor B. Battle became owner and manager in 1979 until 2020. In 2021, the Battle Family leased the funeral home to Long-Granberry Funeral Services, Inc., dba/Battle Mortuary.
