This is a very good explanation of what monkeypox is and how it’s spreading. Bottom line it’s in body secretions that are commonly spread during sexual activity. It causes painful lesions usually wherever the fluid goes including anogenital region oral cavity and skin.

There is no antiviral medicine for it. There is a vaccine and they have not mentioned any plans for a mass vaccinations because it’s mostly in the non-monogamous gay men population. It has spread to household members of these individuals however.

If I was on the dating scene and was about to have a new sexual partner I would use precautions such as condoms and have a frank discussion about whether or not the person is sleeping with multiple people and be aware of what their skin looks like.

Monkeypox virus, seldom reported outside African until now, https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2207323?emp=marcom&utm_source=nejmlist&utm_medium=ema...

Dehydration can be avoided in this very hot summer weather by staying indoors in air conditioning and making sure you are well hydrated.

As always, check with your doctor if you were told to restrict potassium in your diet, or you are on a doctor prescribed fluid restriction. Otherwise, the following drinks are very good at rehydrating you:

1. Water
As you can imagine, water is one of the best drinks to fight dehydration. Drinking water throughout your workout helps replace the water you're losing by sweating. It's also key to drink when you're not feeling well. And, no matter where you are or what you're doing, you'll probably be able to find a glass of water.

2. Electrolyte-Infused Water
Water with electrolytes. When you're dehydrated, you're depleted of electrolytes that help your kidneys function—drinks like Smartwater and Trader Joe's Alkaline Water Plus Electrolytes can come to the rescue and ward off a headache or other mild dehydration-related issues.

3. Pedialyte
Pedialyte is an advanced, medical-grade hydration formula containing the key electrolytes potassium, sodium, and chloride designed to restore your body's sugar and electrolyte balance. Good for both children and adults, Pedialyte gets you on the fast track to feeling better, especially when you're sick with a stomach flu or other illness.

4. Gatorade
A favorite of athletes and workout warriors, Gatorade is chock full of electrolytes—but it's also high in sugar. Sugar, in this case, is not all bad: it's actually helping your body absorb the electrolytes more efficiently. Plus, Gatorade does have an option with less calories and sugar called G2 for those watching their sugar intake.

5. Homemade Electrolyte-Rich Drink
With the right ingredients, you can whip up your own electrolyte-infused drink. The key is including sugar, salt, and plenty of water. This delicious lemon-ginger electrolyte drink recipe calls for ginger, lemon, lime juice, agave, sea salt, and mineral water.

6. Watermelon
It's not a drink, but watermelon is 92% water. Any time you eat watermelon, you're getting water and a hefty dose of vitamin A, vitamin C, and electrolytes.

Hello everyone.

I have been receiving many questions regarding the 2nd COVID -19 booster.

Bottom Line:

I do recommend strongly considering a booster dose if you are over 50 or if you are under 50 with certain medical conditions (see list at end of this email) that put you at an increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 get a 2nd COVID booster with either Moderna or Pfizer vaccines four months after your last vaccination or booster dose.

Discuss with your doctor and ask what he or she recommends.

Also, If you received the J and J vaccination series more than four months ago, you should strongly consider getting a booster vaccination with either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine (not another J and J vaccination.)

As before, if you have not received any Covid vaccination the majority of Doctors strongly encourage you get it.

Always discuss with your doctor.

MORE DETAILS IF YOU WANT TO LEARN MORE:

Yesterday the FDA approved a 4th Covid Vaccination (2nd Booster dose) with either Moderna or Pfizer vaccines in anyone over 50 regardless of the state of immunocompetency.

This is based on data from a retrospective cohort study from Israel where they included all members of Clalit Health Services, aged 60 to 100, eligible for the second-booster.
Mortality due to Covid-19 among participants who received the second-booster was compared with participants who received one booster dose.
A total of 563,465 participants met the eligibility criteria.
Of those, 328,597 (58%) received a second-booster dose during the 40-day study period.
Death due to Covid-19 occurred in 92 second-booster recipients and in 232 participants who received one booster dose (adjusted hazard ratio 0.22; 95% confidence interval 0.17 to 0.28).
This study demonstrates a substantial reduction in Covid-19 mortality by the second-booster in eligible subjects.

Subgroup Analysis by Age Group:
Among participants aged 60 to 69, death from Covid-19 occurred in 5 of 111,776 participants in the second-booster group and 32 of 123,786 participants in the first-booster group (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.16; 95% CI, 0.06 to 0.41; P
