We are honored to celebrate and feature Cara Priest, PT, DPT, a dedicated Physical Therapist, at Collage Home & Community Rehabilitation Partners in Aiken/Augusta, Georgia!

With two years of dedicated service to Collage Rehabilitation Partners, Cara's work is driven by a deep-seated mission to restore mobility and independence. Her inspiration to become a Physical Therapist was rooted in a profound desire to help individuals, a commitment best demonstrated by her specialty's most rewarding aspect: "seeing patients improve... being able to see patients go home to their families and return to doing things they enjoy."

A powerful testament to the impact of rehabilitation, Cara recounts the emotional experience of seeing a former severe stroke patient, who once struggled mentally, return to the facility months later walking independently with a cane and a renewed sense of hope. This significant progress underscores the vital role physical therapy plays in enhancing the quality of life for our clients.

We commend Cara Priest for her clinical skill, compassion, and unwavering dedication to empowering our clients' recovery journey.

Fun Fact: Cara was born and raised in Guam.

We are honored to celebrate and feature David Heumann, PT, DPT, a dedicated Physical Therapist serving at Collage Home & Community Rehabilitation Partners in Houston, Texas. Mr. Heumann has been an integral member of the Collage Rehabilitation Partners for three years!

His inspiration to pursue Physical Therapy stems from a belief in advancing the quality of healthcare: "I wanted to see more attention on the obvious: we should be improving the quality of the years left in life—not just the quantity. We are preventative, not just reactive." Mr. Heumann further notes that therapy is "evolutionarily sound," reflecting his belief that foundational healing principles remain essential today.

A particularly memorable experience highlighting his passion was "Helping a neighbor and his family move forward after a diagnosis of MS."

The most rewarding aspect of his specialty is the moment of realization for families: "The moment a patient's loved one sees him/her completing a task they could not imagine. Moving, standing, showing independence... seeing people realize how massive the little things are."

We extend our sincere gratitude to David Heumann, PT, DPT, for his commitment to excellence in rehabilitation and his impact on the lives of our patients and their families.

We are delighted to introduce and celebrate our featured clinician, DeAndra Shields, PT, DPT, a dedicated Physical Therapist at Collage Home & Community Rehabilitation Partners in Atlanta, Georgia. This month, DeAndra is celebrating her one-year anniversary with Collage Home & Community Rehabilitation Partners.

DeAndra’s commitment to rehabilitation stems from a lifelong appreciation for human movement, rooted in her extensive background as a dancer. Her approach is defined by her belief in the power of personal connection and creativity.

When discussing the most rewarding part of her work, DeAndra shared: "Helping patients and their families rediscover a sense of purpose in life... is by far the most rewarding part of what I do." This philosophy is beautifully illustrated by a memorable moment where she used a patient’s favorite song, "No Scrubs" by TLC, to successfully facilitate weight-shifting for a stroke patient, underscoring how personal connection can significantly enhance the therapeutic process.

Please join us in recognizing DeAndra for her dedication and innovative spirit!

Fun Fact: Before embarking on her Physical Therapy career, DeAndra was a Georgette for the Redcoat Band at the University of Georgia!
