"Warm up first. Move qi"

When activity spikes, the warm-up matters. In TCM, gentle warming and movement help qi and blood flow, which can reduce stiffness and help the body move more smoothly. Try a quick routine before your walk or workout: ankle circles, hip circles, shoulder rolls, and a slow forward fold. If you tend to strain easily or feel tight in the same places, acupuncture can help release tension patterns and support better mobility and recovery.

Join Dr. Jamie Smith, DCM, L.Ac., for a dynamic one-hour online presentation exploring how acupuncture and integrative medicine can support individuals struggling with seasonal and environmental allergies. This class will break down the essentials—what allergies are, why they happen, and how both Western and Eastern frameworks understand their root causes. Participants will learn about Traditional Chinese Medicine patterns of disharmony, how acupuncturists diagnose allergy-related imbalances, and what makes TCM’s holistic approach unique and effective.

In addition, you’ll walk away with practical tools you can use right away. We’ll cover helpful lifestyle tips, simple acupressure points, breathing exercises, and self-care protocols that support immune function and reduce symptoms naturally. 🌿 Daylight Saving Time Through the Lens of Chinese Medicine 🌿

This weekend we “spring forward,” and while it may only seem like a one hour shift on the clock, our bodies often feel the change much more deeply. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, our health is closely tied to natural rhythms such as the rising and setting of the sun. When those rhythms shift suddenly, it can temporarily disrupt the balance of our internal systems.

In Chinese medicine we often talk about the body’s circadian rhythm through the concept of the Chinese Medicine Body Clock, where different organ systems are most active at certain times of day. Sleep, digestion, mood, and energy levels all depend on this natural flow of Qi. When we suddenly lose an hour of sleep, it can affect organs such as the Liver, which is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi, and the Heart, which houses the mind and supports restful sleep.

You might notice symptoms like:
• Feeling more tired than usual
• Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep
• Irritability or feeling “off” emotionally
• Digestive changes or sugar cravings

The good news is that small adjustments can help your body adapt more smoothly.

✨ Tips from Chinese Medicine to Support the Transition

☀️ Get morning sunlight. Natural light helps reset your internal clock and supports healthy Qi movement.

🥗 Eat warm, nourishing meals. Soups, lightly cooked vegetables, and whole foods support the Spleen and digestion during times of change.

🚶 Move your body gently. Walking, Qi Gong, or stretching helps move stagnant Qi and improve energy levels.

😴 Prioritize sleep. Try to go to bed a little earlier for a few nights to help your body adjust.

🌿 Support your system with acupuncture or bodywork. These therapies help regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, and restore balance when routines shift.

Seasonal transitions are a big focus in Chinese medicine. Each change in light, temperature, and environment invites us to slow down and listen to our bodies. Daylight Saving Time can be a reminder to check in with your sleep habits, your stress levels, and your daily rhythms.

If you find yourself struggling with sleep, energy, or stress during seasonal transitions, acupuncture and holistic care can help bring your system back into balance.

🌱 Your body knows how to adapt. Sometimes it just needs a little support along the way.

👐 Explain Tuina Massage Badly 😂

Imagine someone doing kung fu on your back — but lovingly.

They push, roll, pull, shake, and slap you in very specific ways that somehow make your joints pop, your muscles behave, and your Qi decide to get its life together.

It’s not quite a spa massage and not quite chiropractic — it’s that weird, wonderful middle ground where ancient wisdom meets “ow… wow… okay, that actually feels amazing.”

Basically, it’s physical therapy if physical therapy also fixed your soul.

🌿 Explain Acupuncture Badly 😂

So here’s the deal:
We gently stab you with microscopic, glorified toothpicks to convince your body to chill out, stop hurting, and start healing.

Your nervous system goes, “Wait—what just happened?”
Then your brain decides to release happy chemicals, your organs start doing their jobs again, and somehow your digestion, mood, and fertility all improve.

You walk in like 🧍‍♀️ a stressed-out pretzel,
and walk out like 🍜 a relaxed noodle.

No drugs. No drama. Just Qi doing its thing.

✨ Book your “controlled poking session” today — your body will thank you later.
