Let’s stop the supplement overload frenzy…the under-eating and over-exercising, and the diet programs of processed inflammatory foods!

In Midlife we need to get smarter and be laser focused on what is going to truly move the needle for energy, metabolic health, and vitality.

Have you read Good Energy yet by Casey Means? She talks all about cellular health, including the mitochondria. She also mentions NRF2 six times!🧬 My favorite topic.

Inflammation, oxidative stress and toxic overloads are going to negatively effect our mitochondria. This means reduced CELLULAR ENERGY to keep up the important functions our body needs to perform, support our immune system, and even burn fat for weight loss.

Just go to Google like I did and search “Mitochondria and any health topic”. We need strong functioning mitochondria for optimal health!

If you’ve ever struggled with weight loss resistance — even while “doing everything right” — the missing link might be in your PPARGC1A gene. 🧬

🔹 What it does: PPARGC1A (PGC-1α) is the master switch for mitochondrial biogenesis — helping your body make new mitochondria, the tiny power plants that fuel your cells.
🔹 Why it matters: Without strong mitochondria, your body may have a harder time producing energy for metabolism, fat burning, and even healing.

How this impacts health & aging:
• Low PPARGC1A function can mean slower fat loss, more fatigue, and difficulty maintaining energy.

Activation of our own Glutathione production through the NRF2 pathway is one of the best things we can all do for our health! This has become a FOUNDATIONAL part of my self-care regimen and what I try to educate my clients and friends on.

If we want to age well, we MUST reduce Oxidative Stress.

I’m 55 and I’m battling the aging process with all the best tools I can find!

Go to PubMed and search Oxidative Stress and any disease you can think of. You will find thousands of articles.

The NRF2 activation product I use can legally state it reduces oxidative stress by 40% in 30 days and up to 70% in 90 days!

Once you know this it’s truly a no-brainer decision.

✨ Favorite Friday Gene: APOE

This is one of the most studied genes in relation to brain health and Alzheimer’s disease — but it’s not something to fear. This is powerful information to know. 🧬

🔹 What it does: APOE helps manage cholesterol, brain repair, and inflammation.
🔹 Why it matters: Certain versions (like APOE-E4) can raise risk for Alzheimer’s — but it does not mean you’ll develop it.
🔹 How common is it? About 75% of people carry E3 (the “neutral” type), while 10–15% carry E4, the risk-linked variant.

APOE & Alzheimer’s risk:
• E3/E3 = most common, considered neutral baseline risk
• E3/E4 = about 2–3x higher risk
• E4/E4 = about 8–12x higher risk

🌟This is why knowing your status matters. Some diets very high in saturated fats — like a strict carnivore diet — may be more risky for E4 carriers. Research shows APOE-E4 often responds poorly to high saturated fat, raising inflammation and Alzheimer’s risk.

The good news? Genes are not our destiny when we use targeted interventions.

HOLD ON….you may not have heard yet about this incredibly simple, but powerful, weight loss tool.

I’ve been deep diving down the science rabbit hole and listening to the founder of this product on multiple podcasts. I’m really excited about adding this to my tool kit and sharing with clients!

Did you know that we’ll spend about a THIRD of our life post-menopause?😳

That means this season isn’t just about surviving getting through it—it’s about setting ourselves up for longevity and thriving. 💫

At this stage, hoping we’ll “age well” or avoid medications isn’t a plan. Hoping life situations miraculously work themselves out without self-realization and making hard decisions is also not very effective.

This is THE season to take action and control.

We need to be intentional—getting things under control NOW, supporting our bodies at the cellular level, and creating a smart strategy for healthy aging.

And let’s be clear—it’s not about being skinny. It’s about being strong, vibrant, and giving our cells what they need to keep us thriving for decades to come.

I’ve been a little sidetracked this summer and haven’t been talking as loudly about my passion for what Lifevantage has to offer. I decided to partner with them exactly a year ago, as I was blown away by their Nutrigenomic genetic pathway activators. They work!

If you didn’t already figure out, I’m a huge advocate for nutrigenetic testing and have seen how powerful this knowledge is for achieving greater health and longevity.
