Southwellness - Comprehensive Medical Care
When the pandemic began, one of the things that we've been doing at Southwellness was help corporations, organizations stay safe, keeping your employees safe and keeping coronavirus out of your business. Trust us, this CAN be done with the right protocols.
We know, the CDC guidelines are too vague. Businesses today need more support. Whether it's testing for employees or providing cares should they come ill, we're here for you ✅

No single food — not even a superfood — can offer all the nutrition, health benefits, and energy we need to nourish ourselves.
However, there are a few foods that can be singled out for special recognition. These “superfoods” offer some very important nutrients that can power-pack your meals and snacks, and further enhance a healthy eating pattern.
🍅 Tomatoes: These are high in vitamin C and lycopene, which has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
🥬 Leafy Greens: Dark, leafy greens are a good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and calcium, as well as several phytochemicals (chemicals made by plants that have a positive effect on your health). They also add fiber into the diet.
🐟 Fish: Good source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which help prevent heart disease.
🫐 Berries: High in fiber, berries are naturally sweet, and their rich colors mean they are high in antioxidants and disease-fighting nutrients.
🥜 Nuts: Hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, pecans — nuts are a good source of plant protein. They also contain monounsaturated fats, which may be a factor in reducing the risk of heart disease.
🫒 Olive Oil: Good source of vitamin E, polyphenols, and monounsaturated fatty acids, all which help reduce the risk of heart disease.
🌾 Whole Grains: A good source of both soluble and insoluble fiber, whole grains also contain several B vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. They have been shown to lower cholesterol and protect against heart disease and diabetes.
As you can see there are many ways to boost your healthy diet! Have any other questions? Let us know in the comments💭

If you saw our previous posts on proper hand-washing techniques, (combined with wearing a mask and practicing proper social distancing) you know keeping your hands clean & hygenic is essential in preventing the spread of the coronavirus, and other nasty germs that can cause illness. Of course, we know washing your hands is the best solution, but what if we don’t have access to a sink/hand soap? A lot of us are on the go which makes hand sanitizer an excellent option. As we navigate cold/flu season (and a surge of COVID), a bottle or container of hand sanitizer is a must-have.
For example, let’s say you’re at the grocery store or on public transportation. Hand sanitizer is a great solution to make sure your hands are as clean as they can be—but remember, it doesn’t replace the good ol’ soap and water. If you have access to a sink, you should practice thorough hand-washing instead. Especially if your hands are visibly dirty.

Quick Tip! ✨
Citrus fruits, such as lemons and oranges, are in season!
They are loaded with vitamin C, which helps boost your immune system to help you fight off infection & stay healthy during the winter.
You can make a healthy lemonade with 1 lemon juiced, a couple drops of liquid stevia, and 2 cups of water.
Stir and enjoy! 🍋

For the last several months, we’ve been doing lots of activism related to coronavirus. Being officially partnered with the state, we started with PPE & then moved into testing, which has been a huge success.
Something we’ve been focusing on at Southwellness is strategizing on how we can get our kids back to school. Our position is, if sport organizations such as the NFL/NHL are able to create a safe bubble to operate, why can’t we do the same for our children?
With the available testing capacity out there, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to find a solution. If you’d like to find out more, check out 👈

Comprehensive Medical Care – When You Need It, On 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 Terms!

✨ 𝘾𝙊𝙑𝙄𝘿 𝙀𝙩𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚: 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝘽𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙍𝙪𝙙𝙚
We’ve all been there lately. We wash our hands, boost our immune systems, wear our masks, and stand 6 feet apart.
And then, a friend stands a little 𝙩𝙤𝙤 close or wears their mask below their nose (or refuses to wear one at all). What do you do? What do you say?
The pandemic has introduced a whole new range of social situations and manners. That unfortunately can be a bit awkward at times. Here are a few tips to stay healthy without “being rude.”
𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙔𝙊𝙐...𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢. If you start a sentence with “I would prefer if you…” or “I would be more comfortable if…” people are less likely to be defensive.
𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙙𝙚𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚. Say something like “I appreciate your point of view, but I’m choosing to follow my own beliefs.”
𝘽𝙚 𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩, 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙗𝙣𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨. For example, if a maskless person is about to step on an elevator, just say something like, “I’m sorry, but I’d prefer if you catch the next one.” If they are already on, simply step off without saying a word.
𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙢𝙗 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚. Especially during the holiday season, friends or family may push you to travel, join their parties, or eat meals inside at bars/restaurants. Gently but firmly decline or suggest a venue/idea that meets CDC guidelines.
𝘽𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙛𝙪𝙡, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙥𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙮. People will be grateful if you recommend a place to get tested (like Southwellness COVID Solutions) or ways you’re keeping your immune system strong.
Spread the good word, but not the virus this holiday season!

⚠️ 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙎𝘼:
Hand washing is one of the best ways to protect yourself from illness, including the coronavirus.
Here we have outlined the 5 steps to follow along with the key times of when you should wash your hands.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟰: Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟱: Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
Washing hands with soap and water is the BEST way to get rid of germs in most situations. If soap and water are not readily available, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. You can tell if the sanitizer contains at least 60% alcohol by looking at the product label.
*It is also important to note that hand sanitizer does not get rid of all types of germs, so if you have a choice out of the two- wash your hands the traditional way.

Southwellness is a personal-physician, limited-volume practice that does not participate with insurance. My goal is to build relationships with members with a focus on humanism and responsiveness, and help patients maintain dignity in the face of health and wellness challenges. Finding a doctor you can trust to be there when you need them, to spend the time it takes to empower you, who will treat you like family in a real sense is not even an expectation most people dare to have anymore. The goal of Southwellness is to change the paradigm of what primary care can be.
We enjoy treating newborns to elders with any and all medical challenges.
