The 2025 Idaho Herbal Intensive was everything we could have wanted. We couldn’t have asked for a better week. Thank you to all our supporters for allowing us to take the week to wild harvest some beautiful medicine for you!

We had such a great last day in Idaho. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and the views were absolutely serene. We went above 7,000 ft elevation to the most beautiful lake and found some Fireweed (thinking of using this in this years Holiday Glow facial kit), Blue Gentian (for digestion) & Wild blueberries (perfect for us to eat right off the bush). Then we came down the mountain on a different road and found Osha (we use the roots for Lung Support), Baneberry (we use the roots for its progesterone in our Endocrine Formula), Wild Huckleberries (great for eyesight), then finished the day with some incredible Ghost Pipe (used for nerve pain and extreme stress/anxiety).

Introducing our Mountain Mermaids! These amazing women are apprentices of Fiona’s Forest and were brave enough to join us for this year’s Idaho Herbal Intensive. Michelle (left) is a first year apprentice that is an experienced Gardner and is now looking to expand her plant knowledge to medicinal herbs. Sara (center) is a second year apprentice that is passionate about native plants and sustainably wild harvesting in the ways of our ancestors. Sheila (right) is a second year apprentice that is driven by an all natural lifestyle and loves to wild harvest for her medicinal teas.

Today was a big roots day!
Japanese Knotweed Roots were the first on the list. This herb is a staple for us and is used in a few of our blends including the Cognitive Formula. Japanese Knotweed has the ability to pass the blood brain barrier and is a strong antioxidant. 
Lomatium Root was next on the list! This root is the strongest antiviral in the plant community and is another staple at Fionas Forest. It is used in our Immune Enhancing Formula, Immune Support Formula, Lung Support Formula, Antiviral Throat Spray, and the Viral Defense Formula.
Then, we over looked the incredible view of Hells Canyon and harvested Gumweed flowers. This herb is very resinous. The resins bind with mucus in the body and carry it out. Gumweed flowers also calm the bronchials and can be helpful for asthma. You can find Gumweed flowers in our Allergy Relief Formula, Immune Enhancing Formula, Lung Support Formula, Lung/Asthma formula, Chokecherry Cough Syrup, and even in our body lotions (for its anti-inflammatory properties and moisturizing/skin softening affects).

Survived another epic weekend with our second-year apprentices! Together, we ventured deep into the forest and uncovered a treasure trove of Polypore Mushrooms, Usnea, Green Alder Cones, and Pipsissewa. We were so inspired by our first day of harvesting that we decided to do it all again the next day, because why not?! This extra day allowed us to collect even more amazing plants, including St. John’s Wort flowers, Gumweed flowers, Mullein flowers, and Green Black Walnut Hulls.
