Hi! I’m Shawnda, a Master Massage Therapist—yes, that’s the official title on my license, I didn’t make it up. I specialize in deep tissue massage, which surprises a lot of people: “How can someone so tiny be so strong?” The secret? Bony elbows and a love for anatomy.
Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to be a massage therapist. Fun fact: I used to tell my parents I was going to be a massager—thinking I’d invented a brand-new career and would make a fortune. Turns out, I didn’t invent it… but I did discover my passion for helping people move, heal, and feel their best.
I’m fascinated by how the body works, which is why I’ve spent years studying anatomy and kinesiology, and why I continually research conditions and disabilities that silently affect many in our community. My husband Grant was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2019, and that sparked a personal mission: to learn as much as I can about conditions that may make massage seem intimidating. My goal is simple: no matter your condition, you can get a safe, effective massage with me—and I’ll make it a comfortable, positive experience.
Outside the spa, life is full of laughter and love. My husband Grant and I have been together 10 years (he’d probably say it feels shorter because I’m delightful ESPECIALLY in the mornings—sarcasm included). Our 4-year-old son, Ledger, is my whole world.
I travel… a lot. Some of my favorite destinations are Disney and Universal—both coasts, no preference. Honestly, anytime I’m on a plane, I’m happy. Traveling gives me inspiration, stories, and energy I bring back to my practice—and maybe even a little extra fun in your massage session.
In every massage class I’ve taken, I’ve been told “clients aren’t your friends.” I’ve never agreed. Many of my clients and I end up cackling our way through a session, and if I’m ever late, it’s probably because we got to talking and lost track of time.
I’ve been granted many awards for my kindness, and at my core, I aim to reflect the love of Jesus in everything I do—though I’ll admit, I fail sometimes. What matters is that I try.
So, that’s me: a massage therapist who combines skill, care, and a little dark humor. I can’t wait to help you feel better and move easier.
