From Volunteer to Clinical Director: Angela’s Inspiring Journey with Valley Health System. As the Clinical Director for Valley Health System’s Center for Child Development, Angela D., Physician, brings a lifelong passion for care that began when she was just 15 years old. Her journey with Valley Health System started as a volunteer delivering flowers to patients’ rooms, a simple but meaningful act that sparked a love for helping others.
During college, Angela spent her summers working in the nurses’ scheduling office, calling in nurses to fill shifts when others called out sick. Later, while in medical school, she continued to build her experience in the Valley ER, working as an orderly and assisting doctors and nurses.
After completing her training and residency, Angela joined Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY, as an attending pediatric physiatrist, where she served for seven years. When she learned that Valley had a Center for Child Development with pediatric physical, occupational, and speech therapists, but no pediatric physiatrist, she reached out to Valley leadership. Her initiative led to an interview and an offer to join the staff. For 15 years, Angela was the only pediatric physiatrist in Bergen County, helping countless children reach their developmental milestones. In 2021, she became the Clinical Director of the Center for Child Development, where she continues to shape the future of pediatric care.
Angela’s story is a true testament to Valley’s commitment to supporting the career growth and advancement of our people. From student volunteer to clinical leader, her journey reflects how we invest in our employees so they can continually elevate the exceptional care we’re known for.
