Tonight, I had dinner with these two incredible human beings in their home. Lauren taught me AP biology when I was 16 years old. The early building blocks were set into motion, which led to all the different stages in my life, and, eventually, led to me, NOW... a plastic surgeon. Dave taught my brother Peter, right across the hall from me. Peter and I were quite different, but one thing we always agreed on before he died was our insane admiration for the Ahlerts and how they changed and continue to change the lives of young people. I am so proud to call you both my friends. Cheers to them, to all teachers, to education, and cheers to science. ❤️ 💙
