“Nobody told me this about hormone therapy…” 👀
Starting HRT and now you’re spotting or your breasts feel sore?
Take a breath — these are two of the most common (and usually temporary) side effects of hormone therapy.
✨ Let’s break it down:
1️⃣ Bleeding or spotting
This is very common, especially in the first 3–6 months after starting or adjusting HRT.
Why it happens:
Your uterine lining is responding to estrogen
Progesterone timing or dosing may need fine-tuning
Your body is re-learning a new hormonal rhythm
🚩 What’s not normal: heavy bleeding, bleeding that persists beyond 6 months, or bleeding long after menopause — those deserve a check-in.
2️⃣ Breast tenderness
That full, sore, PMS-like breast feeling? Also common.
Why it happens:
Estrogen stimulates breast tissue
Early sensitivity often means your body is responding
It typically eases as receptors equilibrate
💡 Often improves with dose adjustments, delivery method changes, or simply giving your body time.
✨ Bottom line:
Side effects ≠ failure.
They often mean your therapy needs refinement, not abandonment.
Hormone therapy is not one-size-fits-all — it’s custom, dynamic, and personal.
That’s why guided care matters.
